I love this song. But she's weird. Kinda like she has ip/ej temperament at once. A sense of irony is about her.

I love this song. But she's weird. Kinda like she has ip/ej temperament at once. A sense of irony is about her.
For her sociotype I've considered Beta ST (Se-ISTj?/LSI and Ti-ESTp), although I somehow think that's unlikely (I could be wrong); Alpha NT (Ti-ENTp or LII); Beta NF [Ni-INFp? (I'm not sure about subtype)...]; and Alpha SF (Fe-ISFp?...).
I've once seen someone type her as ESI, so I guess that's a possibility. And I knew someone that V.I.'d her as EII (Fi-INFj?). So I guess I really don't know.

Here are the songs:
I could believe Beta ST. She's got out the yin-yang.
On a subjective note, I hate her music lol
[Edited due to the 'misused' "gayness" of (Mr.) Director Lazy Bones!]
I guess I'll type Aimee Mann as Ti-ESTp [my identical (ESTp-INFj?)], unless she's LSI.
Robert Christgau hates her (music) too:
Robert Christgau: CG: aimee mann
"Lost in Space [SuperEgo, 2002]
I've never understood this ice queen thing myself. What's the big thrill--getting to see them bite their lip when they come? All I know is this poster girl for the DIY fallacy is still the ultimate NPR middlebrow, addressing disillusioned love songs to the biz the way Christians address illusioned ones to the Lord Jesus. For her fans, the news is that she's invested her profits in studio musicians. Takes talent to make that more boring than solo acoustic, no? C+"
Robert Christgau: Shining Some Glory: "Liz Phair"
"As someone who likes the idea of Avril Lavigne but finds her music too slow and mushy for faux punk, I was worried, not scandalized--and more worried to learn that Phair had also turned to Pete Yorn's producer and Aimee Mann's husband, who've yet to give the world a "Sk8er Boi" between them. But I wasn't scandalized then either."
"Could be Michael Penn, but Aimee Mann couldn't rock this hard on a motorized hobbyhorse."
"Note awkwardly repetitive (hence emphatic) directness of must-quote verse [Liz Phair's Little Digger]: "I've done the damage/The damage is done/I pray to God/ That I'm the damaged one." What Mann (also womann) oughta be. Penn."
Unfortunately no one here believes I have Extraverted Sensing, except maybe one person who's smarter than the rest.
You must hate Neil Young's and Lou Reed's (The Velvet Underground...) music too since they're typed as LSI on Ashton's Socionix site.
I thought I could trick the Deltas into typing another female singer as their own because she [Aimee Mann] collaborated with Elvis Costello. Just joking. I don't have a sense of humour. Never forgive me.
Alas she's Beta ST. I'm Beta ST. My Mom just said that Aimee Mann is like the female version of me. My Mom likes Aimee Mann. I guess Aimee Mann must be her Benefactor or Semi-Dual if the typings are correct.
I guess all is good now, unless someone decides to invoke their useless democratic rights to state their opinions (which I don't share), like she's ESI or ILE or EIE or EII or IEI or SEI or god knows what. Nevertheless, Beta ST definitely makes the most sense, and I'd imagine that a lot of Beta ST's are mistyped as EII's (especially in Socionics celebrity galleries).

I love aimee mann and I love her music. I can relate to it so much. Nice to see another fan.
Me, too, love Aimee Mann. She's caustic and writes from a chip-on-her-shoulder perspective, but I enjoy that, and her aura of detached gloom. In particular, her melodic phrasing is really inventive. A lot of craft goes into her songwriting.
But is she for sure an extrovert? I've read articles about her that painted her as a little reclusive.
ETA: Anyone want to try to identify the type of relationship portrayed in the "Voices Carry" video? Coitainly reminds me of being supervised.
Considering the responses there are perhaps five types that I might think are more probable [for Aimee Mann], and I still wouldn't completely rule out INFj, and I think it's important to remember that "Mirror" is the worst intraquadra relation. From what I know Duality is the best, then Identity, then Activation, and finally Mirror. Yet besides EII [Fi-INFj (?)] here are the top five contenders (in my opinion):
IEI (INFp), LII (INTj), ILE (Ti-ENTp), ILI (INTp), and LSI (ISTj).
I guess ENFj (EIE) might also be a possibility. So far the only people who really seem to like her are NF's, and it seems Introverted NF's exclusively. My first choice would be INFp, then INFj, then INTj, then Ti-ENTp, then Se-ISTj, then INTp, and then last but not least ENFj. And although the Ej temperament is very unlikely, there have been times when I've wanted to even consider the Ni-PoLR types: ESTj and ESFj, yet an Introverted NF like INFp (or the other Introverted Beta) might be more likely. Here are some more songs:
anything to belong
My ENFP ex-and-best friend likes one of her songs a lot and actually sent me a link. Hmmm. Nanashi=confused.
I've given it some thought and I think that she might be Alpha SF [specifically SEI (perhaps Fe-ISFp). She seems to exhibit Alpha values (and themes) to me--definitely Merry/subjectivist, (possibly) Judicious/relaxed, and Democratic. I don't really get a strong vibe from her, at least not "stereotypically". She's definitely Introverted, possibly Sensing, definitely ethical (Feeling) considering a lot of her lyrics and music, and most likely irrational (perceiving). I guess + makes a lot of sense to me, plus her being a "negativist".
Other types I'd still consider include IEI, EII, and ILE (Ti-ENTp), yet that's pretty much it.
Here's an Fe-ISFp description:
SEI subtypes - Wikisocion
I think it's very safe to say now that she's not Beta (ST), although I don't think she's Delta or Gamma either. I could be wrong of course.
Romantically she doesn't seem like an "Aggressor" or a "Victim", although I could be wrong.
Definitely in my opinion and definitely Introverted, yet I suppose is also possible if not .
Aimee Mann: Fi-ISFj (Normalizing subtype) [ISFj-INFj]; or IEI; I'm not really sure about subtype either way.
D Major (Aquarius)
"I keep going round and round on the same old circuit/A wire travels underground to a vacant lot/Where something I can't see interrupts the current/And shrinks the picture down to a tiny dot/And from behind the screen it can look so perfect/But it's not/So here I'm sitting in my car at the same old stop light/I keep waiting for a change but I don't know what/So red turns into green turning into yellow/But I'm just frozen here on the same old spot/And all I have to do is to press the pedal . . . . Well, people are tricky you can't afford to show/Anything risky, anything they don't know/The moment you try - well kiss it goodbye/So baby kiss me like a drug, like a respirator/And let me fall into the dream of the astronaut/Where I get lost in space that goes on forever/And you make all the rest just an afterthought/And I believe it's you who could make it better/Though it's not/No it's not/No it's not..."
"You looked the part of/The poor brave martyr/And guess who broke your heart . . . . Sugarcoated/When they wrote it/I would believe it too . . . . I would believe it/I’m so relentless/And you’re defenseless/Until the pencil stops/You’ll be the one who’s/Sugarcoated/Overloaded/Do you believe it’s true . . . . Do you believe it/And out of your mouth/Comes a stream of cliches/Now I have given you so much rope/You should have been hanging for days/But you keep spinning it out . . . . It wasn’t nice, though/I came back twice so/Now I’m the Antichrist/If I had been as sugarcoated/Self-promoted/You would’ve believed me too/They would’ve believed me too/Would you believe me too/Would you believe it too?"

I like her music. If she's beta, then it's a next proof I like beta music.
She could definitely be IEI. In addition myself (and others) have also considered ESI, LSI, EII...
One thing that made me consider Fi for her was a comment on this video:

Sergei Moshenkov and Wing Tung Tang M. Sc., MBTI and Socionics: Legacy of Dr. Carl Jung (Lexington: USA, 2010), 25: “The most apparent difference between Fi and Fe, is that Fi expresses itself through the eyes, and always expresses the person's own subjective emotion.”
Here are some more examples of her lyrics:
"And all that I need now/Is someone with the brains and the know-how/To tell me what I want.../Anyhow"
"The day you left and you called me bitch/I called you selfish, better pull that switch/Put my son on amphetamines . . . . Words of encouragement are just as real/Same effect as a smooth blue pill . . ."
"And they don't give the answers/At the end of the test/So you can't simply stand there and hope for the best . . . . Baby, there's something wrong with me/That I can't see . . . . Honey, I don't wanna turn around/ And go back there - do you?/I think you know something I don't know/That I need to . . . ."
"You don't know, so don't say you do/You don't/You might think that things will change/But take my word--They won't/You paint a lovely picture/But reality intrudes/With a message for you/And it's real bad news/I was undecided like you/At first/But I couldn't stem the tide of overwhelm/And thirst/You try to keep it going, but a lot of avenues/Just aren't open to you/When you're real bad news/I've got love and anger/They come as a pair/You can take your chances/But buyer beware/And I won't make you feel bad/When I show you/This big ball of sad isn't worth even filling with air . . . And baby, let me tell you/You can get some things confused/Like whose secrets are whose/And that's real bad news . . . ."
I used to find this kind of negative depressing lyric quite attractive, yet now it seems kind of disheartening. In my opinion Lost in Space was her best album though.
"So maybe I wasn't that good a friend/But you were one of us/And I will wonder just like anyone/If there was something else I could've done/So maybe it's true that your cry for help was oh, so very faint/but still I heard and knew something was wrong/Just nothing you could put your finger on/And I will wonder/Just like anyone . . . ."

Probably no one's really interested, but Robert Christgau likes Liz Phair a lot more than Aimee Mann:

"Could be Michael Penn, but Aimee Mann couldn't rock this hard on a motorized hobbyhorse. Make it Vincent."
I wonder if Aimee Mann and her husband, Michael Penn, are duals.

I like her a lot and think gamma introvert fits better than beta. She is super Ni-ish and quite a contrarian. She seems to me deadpan and remote. Her lyrics tend toward the intellectual and come from a standpoint of critique. I see not a trace of Fe unless I am missing something? From what I have read about her in the past she is grounded and realistic.
LSI: “I still can’t figure out Pinterest.”
Me: “It’s just, like, idea boards.”
LSI: “I don’t have ideas.”
