Common misconceptions about Fours

Fours are "social"

WRONG. Ethical Fours are still more "social" than Eights, because of their sense of recognising people's needs. They're able to recognise informal rules. For example, most people expect you to have an accomodating behaviour. But Logical Fours may not think so.


All Fours are empathetic

WRONG. Ethical Fours may act like they were. They may act like "this is shameful, it shouldn't be like that", and can't stand suffering, because they feel it's unethical (), or un-ETHICAL!!! (). But Logical Fours may not think so, as their Ethics is weak, and then, may be under-used, over-used, and/or mis-used.


Four are unassertive

WRONG. No. Believe me. They're everything but that. Though they lack "drive", they're socially confrontational. Intimate Fours may also look very pushy, especially when Logical. (I think of -+- ILI's). Fours, unlike Nines, are not "accomodating" more than purposefully. Do you imagine Kate Moss (--- SEI) and Nietzche (-+- ILI) if they were people pleasers ?


Fours are avoidant

WRONG. They just feel like being avoidant because of lack of energy, especially when they're tired.


Fours are sad

WRONG. They're pretty much as sad as Ones or Sevens. They just have a "sad" way of living, a "sad" philosophy of life, but that's all.


All Fours are absent-minded

WRONG. What about Sensing Fours ? SEI's ? SLI's ? LSI's ? ESI's ?


Fours are withdrawn

WRONG. They may act "social", and have a fair or semi-fair social life, but they don't make it the centre of their lives. (I mean, they're not Twos)


All Fours are "philosophical"

WRONG. It's pretty much like saying that Fives are all computer geeks. What if they weren't educated by philosophy ? Their serotonin and dopamin levels wouldn't have changed for that. They'd still act like a Four minus the "philosophical" thing.

These are my favorites. I can be VERY confrontational and pushy. And you're right, I'm not accommodating necessarily. And yes I avoid doing stuff because of lack of energy. True.

Seriously, though, I suppose I avoid getting into confrontation or difficult issues when I am either not invested enough (I don't deem it a crucial stand to take) or when I can see I won't get anywhere, change any minds or otherwise just waste my effort and energy.
