    Default One-Word Descriptions of Duality

This thread is in response to a much earlier comment that Expat has brought up before when he said that ESI/LIE duality could be best described as appearing "robotic". This had me thinking as to how to reduce the appearance of certain dual relations to one word. So if you could only use one word to describe the various dual-relations, what would they be?

    - ILE/SEI: ?
    - LII/ESE: ?
    - SLE/IEI: ?
    - LSI/EIE: ?
    - SEE/ILI: ?
    - ESI/LIE: robotic
    - IEE/SLI: ?
    - EII/LSE: ?

That'd be a tough one. If not impossible. Even if we did it I don't think it would mean anything. I mean how much can you convey and cover with one word. One word is just taking it too far, imo.

Might be true for both types individually.

But when romantically in love, this is probably one of the most sincere relationships.

My single word for this relationship would be 'polite' or 'relaxed'.
But it's difficult to use one word...

That's debatable even on an individual basis, but I'm not sure everyone sees their duality as a vehicle for achievement? I meant 'deferment of present pleasures in order to derive pleasure from focus on mutually agreed upon and specifically defined goals to be realised in the future'.

I would never call ILE-SEI as goal-oriented in their relationship, so goal-oriented for something else works for me.

agreed. Melodramatic is a word to describe unbalanced middle-aged women who wear extra bright colors and are always gossiping and matchmaking. The kind that laugh really loud and are really moody and annoying. Does not describe any of the duality relationships I have or that I've ever heard about from other EIEs.

Close enough. Good job doing them all. I was actually hoping EII/LSE would get something -related, but that works.

You mean not _all_ EIEs are like that???!!!!

Anyway, if it's not clear, this and my aforementioned post were written fairly sarcastically.

I'm sure people can do that across the board. I meant: I ENJOY doing that. I would like to spend my whole LIFE doing that. Setting ambitious goals together and working toward them together in a driven way. I don't live for the present, or very much IN the present at all. It's not even all about achieving the goals, frankly: it is the PROCESS of setting them and going after them. Living life according to a mutually agreed upon PLAN to realise tangible, concrete goals as the primary modus operandi, not something you do sometimes, not something you do when you need to, not something you do to facilitate other aims (like 'living comfortably' or 'being financially secure'). Deferring the present and pursuing future goals as a WAY OF LIFE, as the end in and of itself. Always needing to have a 'vision', a grand 'endpoint' and also needing to be in pursuit of that grand 'endpoint'.

I wasn't implying that everyone else was lazy, unmotivated or without any self-discipline. Just that whilst you might defer things for something you value, the deferment of the present for the future is part of what I value.

I am pleased that I am not the only who is stumped by this duality. On Socionics WS, the word I used to describe it was "paradoxical", because I could not think of any possible way to describe how people would perceive such an odd relationship. It's a symmetrical duality that appears asymmetrical.

I'm not trying to build up the LII/ESE duality, but I do not think appearance of asymmetry with the IEE/SLI is quite as extreme as it appears to be with the INTx/ESFx relations.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying. You explain yourself very well. But if you were to ask me whether I relate or share your viewpoint/values or if I could partake in such a relationship, I wouldn't have the slightest fucking clue or idea how to answer. Because I don't know. I really don't.

I agree with that. I think that what makes the INTx/ESFx the most obviously asymmetrical in appearance is that it's almost impossible to find an "introverted" ESE (although it is more possible to find "extroverted" LIIs); just like it is almost impossible to find "extroverted" ILIs (although it is more possible to find "introverted" SEEs).

IEEs and SLIs are less clear-cut. Some IEEs can make an appearance of "introversion", at least a lot of the time (Rick is a good example), while others are more obviously "extroverted" (JuJu if he is indeed one, and Slacker Mom by her own account, and Kim), while SLIs can appear sometimes more "extroverted" at least in joking around and the like.

It's a symmetrical duality that appears asymmetrical.

I think that's one of the first times I actually added anything actually related to socionics here...
