    Default Nikola Tesla

I saw a nice documentary about his life a few hours ago and I was amazed at how much Ne and Delta/Alpha values were there in the portrayal of his personality. I didn't know he was such an extraordinary man, aside from his inventions. Was he an ESTj-Te? He looked sort of like me in some of those photos as a kid.

If NT, then Alpha NT. Maybe ILE. (Btw, that's one of the pictures that remind me of myself). And he reminds me of Subterranean, for some totally akward reason.

In what I saw, he was mainly presented in an anti-Beta, Delta light.

    He is the prototype ENTP.

The ENTP out of which all other ENTP's are born.

He is the Adam of the ENTP race.

    The Big Bang of ENTP-ers.

Am I being clear enough? :-)

Some passages from his autobiography that seem very ILE to me :

The progressive development of man is vitally dependent on invention. It is the most important product of his creative brain. Its ultimate purpose is the complete mastery of mind over the material world, the harnessing of the forces of nature to human needs. This is the difficult task of the inventor who is often misunderstood and unrewarded. But he finds ample compensation in the pleasing exercises of his powers and in the knowledge of being one of that exceptionally privileged class without whom the race would have long ago perished in the bitter struggle against pitiless elements. Speaking for myself, I have already had more than my full measure of this exquisite enjoyment; so much, that for many years my life was little short of continuous rapture. I am credited with being one of the hardest workers and perhaps I am, if thought is the equivalent of labour, for I have devoted to it almost all of my waking hours. But if work is interpreted to be a definite performance in a specified time according to a rigid rule, then I may be the worst of idlers.
… and so I began to travel; of course, in my mind. Every night, (and sometimes during the day), when alone, I would start on my journeys -- see new places, cities and countries; live there, meet people and make friendships and acquaintances and, however unbelievable, it is a fact that they were just as dear to me as those in actual life, and not a bit less intense in their manifestations.
When I get an idea, I start at once building it up in my imagination. I change the construction, make improvements and operate the device in my mind. It is absolutely immaterial to me whether I run my turbine in thought or test it in my shop. I even note if it is out of balance. There is no difference whatever; the results are the same. In this way I am able to rapidly develop and perfect a conception without touching anything. When I have gone so far as to embody in the invention every possible improvement I can think of and see no fault anywhere, I put into concrete form this final product of my brain. Invariably my device works as I conceived that it should, and the experiment comes out exactly as I planned it. In twenty years there has not been a single exception. Why should it be otherwise? Engineering, electrical and mechanical, is positive in results. There is scarcely a subject that cannot be examined beforehand, from the available theoretical and practical data. The carrying out into practice of a crude idea as is being generally done, is, I hold, nothing but a waste of energy, money, and time.

By the way, David Bowie gave an interesting performance as Tesla in The Pestige:

Maybe someone who knows more about electrical engineering can confirm something from this scene.

As far as I know, a Tesla coil - which is what produces the lightning bolts in the scene - transmits electricity across air through extremely high voltage, generating a current of very low intensity and extremely high frequency. The latter two characteristics allow it to flow harmlessly through human bodies, and the creation of an intense electrical field allows it to, for instance, activate a neon lamp from a distance, which a person can safely hold (a common parlor trick with Tesla coils). However, the precise scene with electricity going from Bowie to Jackman while holding hands looks like sheer bullshit to me, especially with the coil switched off. Or am I missing something?

This video has some nice demonstrations of Tesla coils.

Look how it's perfectly harmless for a person to hold a coin through which enough current flows to set fire to paper; later, how it transmits energy to lamps through air:

Hot. An inventor has to be Alpha NT, rite? But seriously, he's a cross between my ILE-Ti first boyfriend, and the LII-Ne I was with next. Stupid ol' Alphas. :/

I agree that he seemed more Alpha than Gamma. Also, Se polr makes more sense.
