I don't think wikipedia is any one time... I mean, the IDEA itself sure, NT.

Either way, I love wikipedia and always use it as a springboard to finding better (or more specifically, more reliable) resources to anything of interest.

Wikipedia seeks to gather and making it more accessible for anyone (-seeking). The information itself is fairly general with links to allow for reading associated pages and concepts (). There is also greater and more open access to editing. Google's Knol would be a better example of a Gamma project doing something along the lines of Wikipedia.
