well apparently something good is going on for that person and you got to find out what it is or just grab on and leech as much as you can before he/she realizes you are much worse then he/she.

They finally got laid... would be my first thought.
Of course... if it were that drastic of a change I'd be wondering what happened to make them that way... or just wtf they want from me.
If they seem sincere - that it's not just some big act - then great. I'd probably try to figure out why though.

what happened to you? did you get laid?
Make me think either:
- Miserable person finally went off the deep end
or
- Miserable person finally recovered
Either way, talk to them. You'll either find a friend or prevent a suicide.
I might be alarmed, but I wouldn't be disappointed to see a sad person become happy.

I had a feeling that you were actually talking about yourself. It surprised me that I was right.
If it were me I probably wouldn't think much of it. I might guess that maybe you were in a bad mood and then later in a good mood but I probably wouldn't think about it too much.
