It struck me today that the background function set (+Te-Ni etc. in an LII, for reference) is the type of our alterego. The alterego is a sort of hidden self, the kind of person you are not, but want to be. Learning to be this person without losing your sense of social responsibility allows you to grow and become a more complete individual.
