Default Describe Your Relationship with Socionics

For me, my relationship with Socionics is that it's like I'm a drug addict, and Socionics is my drug of choice. You see, Socionics leaves me anxious, insecure, and dissatisfied, but I still keep coming back for more.

Eh, I tend not to use it in the real world.

Unfortunately I have a rocky relationship with Socionics. Don't get me wrong, we started out great together. On our first date, Socionics and I just did a classic dinner and a movie type date. The dates that followed were just about the same really. She kept dragging me to hang out with her friends and she would not let me hang out with mine. But then Socionics kept nagging me about how I am not open with her and then I accused her of being too needy and paranoid about my loyalty to her. I admit that I was being friendly with Enneagram, but my loyalty to Socionics was strong and true. Or at least that is what I thought, but Socionics was starting to get a little crazy, so our relationship was beginning to fall apart. I broke up with Socionics for a little while so I could get some breathing room, but then we started dating again. I'm afraid that the relationship will start getting rocky again, though apparently Socionics wants me to meet her parents. Hopefully we will be able to straighten out our relationship to the point of stability.

    My relationship with socionics:
To me it's like an acquaintance that you meet with every once in a while. Like for a quick lunch at work, when you're in the cafe and see him and decide to sit next to him. He doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of your life... but he's ok to talk to for brief moments in time when you ain't got shit to do or nobody else to sit next to.
Now, I come here often enough to almost be able to classify this as a buddy that I actually like hanging out with a bit more than that, so we go out and shoot pool, drink beer...etc. more often than I had initially... but we're still not really close friends.
That pretty much sums up my relationship with this stuff now.

He's fascinating, but incredibly manipulative. I can never quite work him out - he has so many sides to him - but he seems to know me inside and out. He knows when I'm losing interest and presents himself in a completely new light which lures me in again. He's infiltrated my every thought and feeling - I feel like I'm losing my sense of identity. I know this is unhealthy - I should free myself ... but I think I'm too far gone. My identity is so entangled with his that I'm scared of what I'd be left with once I manage to free myself.

What are you still doing with her then?

Pretty good. I've learned to better understand other people's strengths and weaknesses and at least try to adapt to that in a correct way. More than anything I've learned about my own strengths and weakness and I've developed effective strategies to cope them in a realistic way.

For example, since I know I'm Ne dominant, I know I have to push myself in a Se way in order to not keep myself dreaming all the day. But I'm at the same time aware that I'm not confident in Se and that I'm much better off handling my problems in my more natural Ne way, thus preventing me to become exhausted.

It's a hobby; a general interest I devote around 10% of my time to (80% when there's someone else around me who's well versed in it, or when I feel like editing a wikisocion article).

Same with me - except I don't feel guilty about it.

Meh. Socionics is simply the feel-good but no-heart asshole I fuck in a public bathroom. Socionics is a piece of shit whore, and those can't be trusted even though they're such hot fucks- so taking yourself too seriously with this shit will only hurt you in the long run.

All it does is intelligently explain what is already true and there. It doesn't change anything for the better- heart & soul & activism is required for that. Not just raw science. As always, it's just another tool (again with the whore joke) - the choice of how you handle it and what you do with it is completely up to you. =D

the ONLY reason i feel ANY guilt is because i have a hubby and kids and they need my love and attention in order to develop "properly." otherwise, i think i would get completely lost in it, as well as the other umpteen theories i've delved into over the years.

when i relax and flow with the moment more, all of that knowledge and the inspiration behind it comes out in my actions and i am grateful for that.
