Alcohol and type

This sounds silly, but it's something I've been wondering about: In your experience or from observation, how does alcohol affect specific personality types? Obviously it "loosens you up," but I'm thinking more in terms of functions....

For example, I read once that ISTp's sometimes enjoy drinking at social gatherings because it allows them to loosen up and take advantage of Se, which helps them easily attract members of the opposite (or same, I suppose) sex. This, I think, is true, in my experience. Or something like that So, thoughts??

Interesting. I act more ... prob., most people are more and/or to an extent at least when alcohol is involved.

That said, and without being terribly abstract or "smart" (this thread is about alcohol after all!), I ask: do you think displaying more in particular has to do with the HA of an SLE?

Depends on the group of people and what we're doing. There's slutty enthusiastic drunk and calculating and analytical drunk. Depends on the people I'm with. Sometimes both of those mix and I get scary. I'm not sure I like myself when those drunks mix.

my personal theory is that alcohol/other drug use fulfills your hidden agenda and/or dual seeking. but it depends on the person and the drug of choice.

when i used to drink, it think it was a combination of getting myself to relax (Si) so i could loosen up and get with the Fe.

All I can remember from the one time I allowed myself to get somewhat drunk was that I became much more deliberately analytical. Not sure what function that implies. Ni and Te maybe? Probably too vague to tie it to a particular function or pair though.

You probably should do more research to make sure. Oh, and be sure to properly document the experiment.

When I drink I'm more likely to smile, laugh, and talk more, but even then, it's not really too different from my usual self unless absolutely obliterated... Then I wouldn't say there's any sort of "function" involved...haha.

I agree with you, and my experience and observations of others whom I'm pretty sure I've typed correctly seems to back this up.

i knew an istp who used heroin who would get very Fi-seeking... I knew a ESFp who used cocaine who would go crazy Te.
