VI validation

Indulge me.

These are two pictures of a guy I've known for years:








He agreed to let me post them here for a while.

I do have a very strong opinion on his type, based on knowing him.

Based on VI alone, which types would you suggest for him?

The pictures are of poor quality. I have an opinion on what the possible and impossible types are, but it is irritating that you can't V.I. him properly. The pictures should be as in the second photo where we can see him up front, but we should be able to see as much as possible of his facial structure, and that is much easier if he is closer to the camera. And it is better if he doesn't smile.

the fact that a lot of poeple cant agree from two pictures doesn't mean that VI sucks. VI is more than a single frame.

On first glance, he strikes me as a "soft" person. He does not appeart to me to have Ti in the ego block. my first impression, which is not strong, but the strongest I had was ISFp or ISFj. The more I look at it ENFj looked possible, so I'm guessing it's ISFj and not ISFp if I take these impressions together.

I have no real knowledge of VI (never read about it), but I always get "vibes" when seeing people, and he gives me a vibe I recognize. Talkative, very talkative, I'd say. Maybe loud. Social. Funny. LIE, I think.

He's social and can be very funny, but not so loud. But I wouldn't associate that primarily to LIE.

Not sure what each of you is looking at. Are you all comparing him to other people you know, or are you trying to get a feel for the kind of person he is? Or analyzing specific features?

I can add that the two pictures pretty much reflect how he is IRL. I mean, it's not as if he's a sullen or aggressive guy who made an effort to appear differently in the picture.

yeah, i try to get a sense of movement from poses in pictures, so if you say it's how he normally looks it's more helpful. Also it makes a difference how he appears if he has known you for years, to me.. if he a type I would normally not type as relaxed.

The second photo reminded me eerily of a combination between myself and you, Expat. His eyes in particular remind me of myself:

Anyway, my only positive would be Ethical (mostly from the first picture). Probably intuitive, introvert>extrovert somehow....I'm going with IEI>EII>EIE>IEE.

Tolle is certainly INFx at the least; EII was a pretty strong consensus when we looked at videos of him and Oprah, a probable EIE.

i don't know why, but the first picture, in particular, just seems very ENFP to me. Everyone has a pensive look, but there's something subtley different about it in each type...
I sort of just wish I could get a zoom in on pic #1, and also know what was happening around him.

i think i know what you mean about social and extro/intro. Rick has an article on it somewhere. If you mean how "social" people are isn't necc. correlated to introversion/extroversion, then, i would agree.

so I should probably go back to studying before typing people.

this is silly. no reason to assume that you can't make a significant contribution. who knows how much other people know, anyway? this isn't surgery- there are no claims of expertise, objective measures of knowledge, or considerable damage if you make a mistake.
it's people's own prerogative how seriously they take your comments.

Here, I found a picture of Tolle where I think his smile looks very similar to the second picture Expat posted.

Anyone else see the similarities? They both have the same kind of quiet, warm, wise smile; kind of a similar facial muscle movement also.

Before reading the answer, I'd have said some sort of intuitive of the Ne/Si valuing kind - EII or ILE were what popped into my head first. But he doesn't have the same mischief in his look that I'd expect from ILE. More of a... quiet, internal humor, if that makes sense.

I don't say I'm not entitled to have an opinion. I just haven't understood the Socionics types yet, so I will stick to descriptive evaluation instead of the letters until I know more Socionics and VI theory. Actually I trust my gut feeling a lot, so I'm definitely going to say what I think someone's personality is like, but without putting letters. It's a lot of fun to try and type people only by pictures!

I agree with your approach. And, even after reading a lot about the terms and what they should mean, I still find my instincts (when they are attentive) work just as well, even better.

He does remind of my INFj (ex) teacher to some extent, especially the second pic were he's smiling.

That first pic is a very good Ni shot. The second is warm humanism, very typical INFj expression.
