Default Do you love you enemy test

This thread is inspired be a quote from the following thread.

    http://www.the16types.info/vbulletin...ad.php?t=19587

    Scroll down

You are in a limo traveling to a conference with you enemy you have been traveling along a
country road for quite a while now and night is falling.

You did not want to go on this trip but you boss has assigned you both to go together.
This is the person that you partner cheated on you with and this person treats you like dirt.

You have been traveling for quite some time now, then without warning a deer dashes out in front you.
The limo driver swerves to avoid collision but loses control of the Limo.
It flips and roles several times before coming to a compete stop upside down.

It takes you only a few seconds to realize what has just happened and you are able to crawl out
of the limo and get to you feet. You have no serious injury's only a few bruises.

You inspect the limo driver only to find he is already dead and there is nothing more you
can do for him, then you inspect your enemy they are in a pretty bad way.

You know first aid and you can help your enemy until help arrives.

    What do you do

A: I help my enemy until the emergency team arrive.

B: I don't help my enemy and as a result they die when the emergency team arrives.

I wouldn't even hesitate. I don't think it's in me to have negative feelings strong enough that I would leave someone to die over it.

    Yeah, who would?

A more telling scenario would be one in which you had to choose between helping yourself and helping your 'enemy'. Putting your own life on the line or something.

I would like to think that I would choose A.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

I saw a movie recently called "Snow Angels" where this woman had sex with her friend's husband. And at some point after the friend found out about it, the first woman's daughter was lost in the woods and the second woman rallied to her side to help her find her daughter despite this really awful thing the woman had done to her. I thought that was admirable and kind of shows how tragedy can cause people to suspend their animosity and come together to help one another.

Now just because I would save her life, doesn't mean we'd be best buddies afterwards. But I do think it would be the right thing to do. The decent thing. And I can't imagine I'd have to think twice about it. Although, to be fair, I don't have anyone in my life like that so it's impossible to say for sure.

Kagome should just let Kikyo die. She's already supposed to be dead anyways, and the only reason she's able to "live" in this world is by feeding on the souls of the dead, something that shouldn't be done anyways. Besides, she's a horrible character.

I read it, but I don't think that's the kind of thing where you would be likely to think about "moral high ground" afterwards...meh, I dunno, everyone's different.

I would choose A. Based on that story I wouldn't classify this person as "enemy". Only a criminal or a very confused mind would let a person die on such grounds. Most people would get "revenge satisfaction" from seeing the person suffer and then getting more satisfaction from helping them (and being "the better person").

The question would be much harder if it was a real enemy like a person who has previously tried to kill you or your family members and you are certain that he will soon try again.

Then again it is hard for a normal person not to help in an emergency. It is kind of automatic. Like your body takes control over your mind and you just do things instinctively. You don't really make conscious decisions.

I honestly don't know...I know I've hated people IRL enough to wish them dead, but actually carrying that out (even indirectly)...I really don't know what I'd do. This is assuming of course that the person in this scenario was indeed someone I hated enough to wish dead. I guess I'll never know unless I ever get put in that situation. And I really hope I do not.

I wouldn't call someone who cheated on a lover of mine an enemy. I might be cross for a few days though.

If the person was Robert Mugabe, I might consider allowing him to die if only because I don't want to give CPR to a man with such a silly moustache.

I have a hard time believing that because I would save anyone's life if I could, regardless of what type of person they were, that means I love them. To clarify, I wouldn't save them out of love for them (which I think is also the case for everyone else that chose option A), but simply because my conscience wouldn't let me live with myself knowing that I let someone die when it was up to me to save them. So, for me, I guess it is more selfish than "loving my enemy" makes it sound.

Probably an IxTx type, but I can sort of see an argument for ESI, in a way. The feel about her is all wrong though.

Hmmm I think I may start a topic about Inuyasha. (I'm sure there's at least one already in existance from a while back, but I like the idea of starting a fresh one.)

I'm not sure exactly what the law is, but if it was found out that I had the ability to save the person's life and chose not to, I could risk imprisonment. Or others might shun me if they knew that I had allowed another person to die for personal reasons.

So I might save someone's life more out of love for myself than for the love of all things human.
