Default Betas & Blues, making yourself feel more enlightened and energized

So, Betas, what do you to lighten up your mood when you're down, caught in the dark, or spiraling downhill? What do you do to make yourself feel more enlightened and energized? What makes you feel alive? What are the things that give you a zest for life and make you believe in love?

I'm kind of looking for some quick fixes here.

I'm not Beta, but maybe you could listen to, or even better, play some music? Write poetry?

Music, good suggestion, poetry is also a good one, but latley I'm too brain dead for writing.

I used to do this, before I got paranoid. I found it to be great personal therapy.

Come on, nobody else has any suggestions?

I've just found another fix that works well for me: art, and creative expression. Drawling, painting, and coloring just gives me such unique complex high. I draw deep into my emotions and passions, and I replicate it onto paper. I am put deep into a mediative state that resembles a source of tranquility.

Hmm, and yes, it's about time I've started getting into that stuff again.

Go out and have a walk in the nature when it's sunny, nice weather; maybe try an uphill walk if you can, then sit down and relax in an open field of grass, sunbathing, for 2 hours.

all the suggestions in this thread are good ones, I use them all. Sometimes music backfires though and makes me think of things that make me feel worse so I usually try to avoid music if I'm feeling down. Gardening is good because it involves DOING something while also relaxing and being in nature. I dunno, sometimes I get stuck and just need a good cry (but only if no one's around, I hate crying in front of anyone). One thing that helps is not allowing myself to think about the past--forcing myself to think about the fact that the only thing I can change is myself from this moment forward. So that leads to coming up with ideas of how I can change for the better and work toward something that will ultimately contribute to my happiness. But I guess that's not a quick fix!

I write, then I start to screaming (singing) to finally go outside to find some peace.

Also not Beta, but I'll offer a response anyways.

I try out a number of different thoughts in an attempt to find thoughts that feel better. Sometimes I can focus on different thoughts on the same subject, sometimes I need to try a different subject in order to get a better feeling thought. Sometimes the thoughts are things that I believe about the situation or possibilities about the situation, sometimes they're memories.

Even if a thought only feels a teensy bit better, it's still an important improvement. Someone (I forgot who) once said, "You go as far as you can see, and then you'll always be able to see further."

Recently I've been able to just focus on how I want to feel and then start feeling that way, as long as it's not too different from how I was already feeling. I suppose that's a manner of changing my thoughts as well though?

not beta, but my fixes are Fe/Ti. I write to give structure to my thoughts and if i've done a good job i really feel as if i have masturbated. it feels good but it's not as good as if I'd done it to someone else you know? listening or performing the right music also usually does the trick in most cases.
