Question How were the quadras' valued functions determined?

Why not the other dominant functions of the remaining two types?

Uh, what do you mean? The valued elements comprise the egos of all 4 quadra members.

I don't know how much you already know here, so forgive me if I'm just restating the obvious to you, but basically you have the four different pairs of dual information elements:

    (Irrational or "perceiving" functions)
    Ni and Se
    Ne and Si

    (Rational or "judging" functions)
    Te and Fi
    Ti and Fe

As has been mentioned elsewhere on the forum, you can't have a combination of say, Ni and Si for example, for reasons I'm too lazy to go into right now. Anyway, each quadra has to have one of the irrational function pairs and one of the rational function pairs. With this rule in mind, the only combinations possible therefore are:

    Ne+Si and Ti+Fe (Alpha)
    Ni+Se and Ti+Fe (Beta)
    Ni+Se and Te+Fi (Gamma)
    Ne+Si and Te+Fi (Delta)

Hope that answers the title question, although I don't understand what you meant by "Why not the other dominant functions of the remaining two types?"

K, nvm. I always hear Alpha as valuing Fe and Si, never Ne and Ti, so I thought ...
