Default Positive and negative traits for ENFps, INFjs, ISTps, ESTjs from socionics.com

    What do you think?

    from socionics.com....

If your type is Intuitive-Ethical Extratim - ENFp (The Reporter):

Your strongest virtue is well-developed intuition. This allows you to faultlessly determine the hidden abilities and talents in others, which you accurately point out or compliment them upon. You also try to help people understand their personal problems, often trying to help people feel more positive about them. Your first impression of people is usually the right one. You are able to maintain warm, trusting relations with people. Your feelings for others, both positive and negative are as strong as each other. You are a top class diplomat. You try to help others using your diplomatic abilities to find solutions to often difficult life situations. You help people to avoid humiliation and making hasty decisions that they might later regret.

Your will power is not as strong as it should be. You are unable to force yourself to do repetitive and laborious work as well as to keep control of yourself in some circumstances. You can become unexpectedly aggressive or push others without good reason. You find paying attention to details quite difficult. It's not easy for you to divide preliminary from secondary. You often do not think enough about the order in which to place your tasks. Because of this you are often drowning in endless work. It is also difficult for you to plan things in order to achieve goals within allotted time periods, which leads you to become physically and psychologically fatigued and unsatisfied with life.

If your type is Sensory-Logical Intratim - ISTp (The Artisan):

The strongest element of your personality is an inexhaustible curiosity towards the phenomena of the surrounding world. You are interested in adventure, tourism, the juxtaposition of cultures and the study of nature and architecture. Your fundamental need is comfort, both in material and physical areas. You aspire to a harmonious, peaceful and healthy style of life. You also have a well-developed aesthetic taste. You have a good business sense. You usually only undertake projects that you feel will be beneficial to you in a material sense and you stay away from unprofitable ventures. You can work very hard to achieve your goal. Your method of working is purposeful, steady and with attention to details. You plan every detail of your work beforehand and prepare all necessary items before, often showing inventiveness and practicality.

You possess a great deal of scepticism, which stems from your own experiences. This manifests itself in a pessimistic view towards your future. It often causes depression and despondency and leads to apathy, both in your personal and professional life. Your weakness is an inability to show your real feelings to others and because of this others may think that you are a cold and indifferent person. You try to deal with your problems alone. You can be very sensitive to the lack of positive emotions, rude behaviour or tactlessness towards you.
If your type is Ethical-Intuitive Intratim - INFj (The Empath):

Your strongest virtue is a very good understanding of other people's real feelings and relationships. You aspire to attain warm and friendly relations with others. You cannot stand rudeness and violence. You are delicate, kind and full of attention to others. You try to show your compassion for others with actions as well as with words. Your understanding of people and life experiences always help you to find your place in society. You are prepared to spend time, energy and effort helping people with real needs. Your aim is to create peaceful, harmonious, conflict free surroundings, in which others feel comfortable expressing their talents. You are an effective counsellor and peacemaker. You forgive others for negative behaviour, instead appealing to people's conscience where ethical situations are concerned.

You over-analyse everything that concerns you or your surroundings. The results of this are often not so satisfying, leaving you feeling depressed and pessimistic, especially if this envelops unethical behaviour in others. Your sense of compassion is often stronger than your sense of justice. You often lack resolution, initiative and the ability to firmly make your point. You are afraid to appear interfering and your modesty could be over the top. You often hesitate to react to provocation, preferring to bottle your feelings inside. You are often squeamish and punctilious. You pay too much attention to details and quality in your work.
If your type is Logical-Sensory Extratim - ESTj (The Director):

Your strongest virtue is strict factual logic, which allows you to make exact calculations in practical matters. You are a very realistic person. You accurately judge the effectiveness of undertaken projects. You are always very well informed in the field of your activity. You know how to use financial resources rationally and economically. You can provide for yourself and your family and can create a comfortable lifestyle. You have good organisational skills. You appreciate high quality in finished work very much and do not like lack of discipline or laziness in others. You know how to create good working conditions for yourself and others. You prefer solid well made goods as well as variety of foods.

You are often unable to control your emotions in full. You can easily loose your temper with friends and relatives if they do not follow your instructions and tuition or if someone's behaviour goes against your logic and understanding. When you are in a bad mood you can be very direct. You are often unable to plan things in the long term. You often find yourself overloaded with work that seems to appear from out of nowhere and therefore you often need to work out important points beforehand. Sometimes it is difficult for you to foresee forthcoming danger or misfortune in planned affairs. The fact that you did not foresee it often irritates and can even throw you off balance.
Pre-2013 post are written with incomplete understanding.

Overall, I would say that it does apply. But, for example, I'm not really that squeamish compared to other people. And, I do have initiative... The problem is all that comes after.

It's less than half anyways and the way it's all put together sounds like a totally different person than me.

I agree with you--half of that ISTp description doesn't ring true to me at all... The ENFp one is better.

I found it moderately applicable. I didn't read it and go 'omg, that's my inner life', but I didn't necessarily disagree with it either.

    Got an anecdote though:
You prefer solid well made goods
That reminded me of my and unefille's completely different attitudes and methods to shoe shopping. I have a whole list of criteria that the shoe has to fit: 'do I have that colour in my collection? That heel height? That style? Does the shape suit me? Does the base slip when I walk? Is the heel balanced right? Can I run in it?' and all of these have to be satisfied, on top of having that initial aesthetic draw that makes me pick it up.

Unefille, on the other hand, seems primarily driven by 'do I like it? Does it make me happy when I wear it? Do I feel cute/pretty when I put it on? Does it complement my outfit well?' (Feel free to correct me if I've misrepresented this!!) And I was shocked that she bought shoes which had soles that made her slide! She didn't see that as a problem (failure of design/manufacturing!! my brain cried) and just casually said she'd get them re-soled. That um, makes sense. But I couldn't/wouldn't ever do that! It's got to be right from the start. Or it's not worth it.

    Just wanted to share.

I am like you too with shoes and clothes. Although it takes me a really long time to decide if I think it it right or not. Would be helpful for an ESTJ to be there to help me shorten the time it took to make a decision!

I take a long time too! Unefille is mad fast, but that's because she works out what she wants online first, then she just pops in and out of the store. Which also amazes me, because I have to see and touch and try on things before I can even start to make a decision to buy.

But yeah, I'm really not impulsive. If I seem to buy something on the spur of the moment, it is usually because I've been on the look out for something like that to fit into my collection.

Oh, I have gone shopping with an INFj before, and she was more indecisive than I was. But yeah, after telling her my opinion on the items, I think I asked her if she wanted it, would she use it, etc. and that helped her make up her mind. Haha, Te can be useful!

eta: haha, sorry UDP, we've girlified your thread! oops? ;P

It doesn't bother me. I, like everyone else, have the option to scroll past posts I do not want to read, if that is applicable.

Knowing about women's shoes though can earn you serious brownie points.

And of course there are socionics implications to everything......

We were travelling together at the beginning of the year, and while she had talked to me about socionics before we left, I hadn't really gotten into it in a major way. But on the plane - boy, I couldn't escape! Haha, no, it's more that I finally had time to just focus on it. And then, we were shopping a LOT because it was sales season in NY, so yeah, we used the situations we were in to analyse and help me understand.

One can always use new shoes! Of that I'm a firm believer.
