that doesn't mean it is an error, it just suggests it is an unclear usage of the word try. in "try and", try is treated as a verb.. in "try to", try is treated as a modifier for the following verb. This is the way it is meant to be used. When you say "try and....XXX" you are telling the person to perform two seperate actions: to try, and to XXX.... That is a coherent sentance structure, it is just unconventional. Both usages are coherent
