Default my list of Socionics types of anime characters

This list is under construction and currently consists mostly of characters that either appear in anime I've seen recently or characters that are for one reason or another particularly memorable for me.

There won't be many characters of some types (and perhaps even quadras) due mainly to the fact that I tend to be drawn to certain types of anime, so please feel free to make suggestions. (If I haven't seen the anime series though I'll probably only add the character if a number of people who have seen it agree on that character's type.)

What I'm hoping is that archetypes will appear that are quite noticeable for those who have seen these shows.

Some of these types I'm absolutely set on (Naruto, Luffy, Nami, etc.), and some I'm sort of guessing on. Some won't appear on this list for now because I'm too uncertain of their types (Inuyasha and Kagome, for example). Types that I'm less confident about I'll put an asterisk behind. I'll also list other possible typings in parenthesis.

The above post in under construction. I'm just posting what I have now because I somehow (without even clicking "submit") got directed to a blank page and lost like 1/3 of my list.

You actually considered whether or not to get into anime? lol

The whole thing bothers me for some reason.
I don't like it AT ALL.

If you do, make sure you watch each series in sequence. If you don't, you're just wasting your time.

i'm honestly not heavily drawn towards it either. the only "anime" i've ever been highly into was aeon flux and i'm pretty sure it doesn't count as anime. vampire hunter d wasn't too bad.

anime is cool sometimes. i enjoy the anime that is sort of sci-fi or highly ambiguous(or these in tandem). I think it's good that you had a serious consideration. it's a big world, that anime one, and it's not something you should just jump into lest your anime intellect be shredded by someone from the japanese import store.

Whatever, if someone downloaded a couple good animes and made you watch them you'd love it.

One Piece is pretty good from what I've seen. Monkey D. Luffy is insane, but in an endearing way.

    A couple things.

I think Brook in One Piece is ISFp

    I think Inoue is ESFj

    I think L is INTp

Gaara, based on demeanor alone, seems more INTp than ISFj to me

Franky seems more beta than gamma to me, so I'd say ESTp

Orochimaru is some type of evil beta

And you forgot Rukia, who I think is INTp.

I'm at a loss as to his type. We'll have to see what he's like as time goes by.

    I think Inoue is ESFj
I can see why. I vaguely recall wondering whether to list her as ESE or EIE, and apparently EIE won in the end because... I'm not sure why... maybe I'll change it.

    I think L is INTp
    I disagree.

Gaara, based on demeanor alone, seems more INTp than ISFj to me
I honestly don't really even know why he seems ESI to me.

Franky seems more beta than gamma to me, so I'd say ESTp
He was portrayed that way in the beginning of the enies lobby story arc, but as time goes by the things that make him seem Ti > Fi are explained to make him seem more Fi > Ti. But I'm not sure. He could be SLE.

Orochimaru is some type of evil beta
    I dunno.

And you forgot Rukia, who I think is INTp.

Yeah, One Piece's characters all have really creative and memorable names, as opposed to the generic-sounding Japanese "string-of-syllables" names in most animes that are practically mutually indistinguishable to most westerners.

Ichigo always came off as ISFj to me. Whatever type he is though, that's my ideal person(ie what I want to be like.)
"To become is just like falling asleep. You never know exactly when it happens, the transition, the magic, and you think, if you could only recall that exact moment of crossing the line then you would understand everything; you would see it all"

"Angels dancing on the head of a pin dissolve into nothingness at the bedside of a dying child."

In a way it's probably the best choice, but he's got this "you don't know until you try" Luffy-like attitude a lot of times.

It's strange that you'd think of him as someone you'd want to be like though, if you're Alpha and he's Gamma.

"In a way it's probably the best choice, but he's got this "you don't know until you try" Luffy-like attitude a lot of times."

It seems more like "I'm gonna get this shit done no matter what" attitude rather than "you don't know until you try." I've never watched One Piece, so we might be talking about the same exact attitude.

    Um why INTp for Rukia?

Oh, and I have a deep respect for anyone who can live by their principles as deeply and with as strong a will as Ichigo does.

    Edward Elrich-ENFj
    Alphonse Elrich-INFj
    Hohenheim of Light-INTp
    Dante-ENTj(later in the series anyway)
Roy Mustang-ISFj? INTp? No idea here

Shit FMA characters are hard as hell to type.

You could very well be right.

It's weird that people question that typing so much... I thought ILI would be like... her default typing... apparently I was wrong though.

I guess there hasn't been enough character development to type her with confidence beyond my initial impression (Ni dominant negativist). Personally I can't imagine how a Te PoLR would make more sense than a Fe PoLR for her. We're still on the bounto filler though so maybe I'll learn more about her character as we continue to watch.

He certainly doesn't seem stereotypically EP, but the Se is there, and he doesn't seem logical, so perhaps ISFj really makes the most sense.

I know Logos gets pissed at Joy and me always thinking these fighting animes are gamma, but I don't think we're being delusional. I think concepts like rooting for the underdog, pushing yourself to get stronger, being eternally loyal to your friends and ideals, and never backing down are collectively a gamma theme and are inherent in these types of stories.

Though to be fair, the "essence" of Bleach seems more multi-colored, in a socionics sense, than One Piece or Naruto. There's lots of Beta/Alpha stuff in there.

At the beginning of the series people would talk about how he walks around with a scowl. This would point away from SEE, in the very least.

The whole "epic" theme has something to do with it too, I think. There's also a push towards overcoming hierarchy and aristocracy.

I think One Piece is pretty much the ultimate "Gamma" anime, more so than Naruto.

It's that in combination with the other stuff (see discojoe's post). These Se + Fi types make good heroes in that style of anime.

anyways, I'm interested, if one piece is a gamma anime, how are the betas portrayed from this gamma standpoint? (I noticed most of joy's one piece typings were betas and gammas)
Every major villain has been Beta (though it's too soon to tell with Moria). The EIE's are very image-conscious, flashy, and hard to take seriously. The SLE's (which is what most of them have been) are cut-throat, ruthless, strong, egotistical, and idealistic. They value their ideals and philosophies and ambitions over their nakama (friends/crew, in One Piece). They've all been very lacking in ethics in terms of treating people fairly. They have a very "might makes right" attitude. Many betrayed their own nakama.

Shit, I forgot there was a Ti dominant villain in there, too. And an ILE or IEI or EIE or something.

For a beta themed anime, watch Samurai Champloo.

    "Se + Ti/Fi?"

I dunno. It's just that Ichigo has the same exact values I do: loyalty to friends and family above all else. This is the only thing I base my morality on. That, and I view trusting others as a form of making bonds and shit but I think that's when I start to get into the Ti justification of my inherently irrational ethics.

I agree wholeheartedly with Vash from Trigun being INFj. That may be why that's really the only anime series I've ever considered worthwhile.

After I posted it I saw that you said you might watch it, and I thought about it and decided that the spoilers probably wouldn't really be of value to anyone anyways. So I took them out.

But yeah, you'd probably like One Piece if you enjoy that sort of villain. Download the English subbed (not dubbed) version and watch the episodes in order.

I'm not sure what type Kenshin is, but I think he's Ne. Se PoLR > Se Role (like Vash). And he's goofier... sort of like my sister (who you also remind me of, btw) is, in a way I can't explain. But he used to be a hardcore assassin, so...

    Characters I'm unsure about:
    • Xellos, Slayers- Ne?
    An absolutely phenomenal character!

    • Ranma Saotome, Ranma ½- seems ethical???
    • Akane Tendo, Ranma ½- ExTx (but not ILE)
I thought Akane was an IEE and Ranma was an SLI.

Pissed is not the right word. I find it suspect, and so I am inclined to question it. And when I initially watched Bleach, I got more of a Beta feel. So when your Gamma typing of Bleach clashed with my Beta typing, then the result should be hopefully more understandable.

That may very well be his type, but he is such an interesting character that I am not sure. Is the ILE look as the "trickster/mysterious priest" just a facade that he shows to mortals? I am inclined to think that he is an ILE just because of how he interacts with Lina as an LIE. If Zelgadis is an LII and Xellos an ILE, that could serve to show certain tensions that exist in mirror relationships, especially if the goals and priorities of the two individuals clash.

I do think that Xellos is an ILE, who oddly enough gets along well (though still not without serious racial tension) with Filia the Dragon Priestess (probably an Alpha SF).

Any thoughts on the characters from Miyazaki's movies like Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa: The Valley of the Wind, Howl's Moving Castle, etc.?
