Road trips are the best! My friends and I went on one a few weeks back to the Sunshine Coast. There were 6 of us - we went for a 3-day weekend. We had no real plans at all which was great. We spent most of the time swimming, bushbashing, and just lying around and talking. I love spending time with friends in a relaxed environment like that.

    what's bushbashing? I'm thinking it's what we'd call a desert party?

Just to point out, you said friends and not people I'm in a relationship with so I'll just answer to that, this may get long and I'm sure most won't care to even read it...lol.

I don't really like hanging out at people's houses too much unless we're actually doing something. Just sitting around talking makes me antsy and bored unless chit chatting about a subject that I know a lot of and I'm interested in it. With that said, friends that have pool tables, ping pong tables, dart boards, a good place to play poker or other card games, kegerators with their own homebrewed beer, a big screen tv with sporting event on, or something to actually work on (cars, boats, quads, and other stuff like that) are the people who's houses I'd actually be hanging out at if I were to just "stay in"... so to speak.

I'll answer both of these at once, where I go usually says what we'll typically do.
Everywhere really, this really depends a lot on which friends I'm out with. Upscale bars that feel trendy, dive bars with a smokey haze at eye level, concerts, pool halls, bowling alleys, casinos, museums, sporting events, restaraunts (usually in conjunction with all these other things), wine tasting, road trips to another city to see the nightlife there, other people's houses with the amenities that I pointed out earlier. i'm sure there's much more places that I go that don't really come to mind. I guess it'd be ok to pretty much say "anywhere" as long as it's a place I feel comfortable and have fun.

Totally different depending on where I go. Loud at a baseball game, low key and whispering at a martini bar, medium loud at a karaoke place, crazy at clubs, laid back and fairly competitive when I'm shooting pool, loud at concerts... etc.

Tues-Sat. nights pretty much covers it. i work sunday-tuesday and every other wednesday, so when I'm not working the next day (sometimes even when I am working) then i'll usually go out somewhere with someone or a few people.

How it usually goes for me... During the week someone will say "this is going on wed. or thursday... etc." to which I'll say, "cool I'm down for that." (This kinda goes on for every night of my weekends, which is days off, as i pointed out above) Then the night will be planned around that. Now, earlier that day or whatever I may text whomever I'm going out with, "hey, you wanna grab some grub before the (insert activity here if it doesn't involve food already)." We'll figure out if we are eating or not and if not we'll text back n forth or call to see who's driving or where we're meeting at. I'll usually ask, "hey do you think (insert name here) would wanna go?" and then make another call or two about that activity to that person. We'll do whatever that activity which was planned earlier is and if there's more time and we're not worn out, most likely hit up a bar or two before going home. On days I don't work, it's very rare for me to be home any time before midnight or 2am...lol.

I have a big circle of friends but keep a few little subcirlces inside of that. I have two friends that I pretty much will do anything with, a few others that don't like doing one thing but like doing other stuff, and others that i rarely call because when they go out it's for something that's been planned for some time and they have kids and stuff to get babysitters for...etc. For example, I have a friend or two that love bowling and shooting pool, but don't like going to concerts and checking out art galleries. So, sometimes I wouldn't invite certain people to such things if I know it's not their cup-O-tea. Sure, I'll invite every once in a while just to see if they'd want to go, but for the most part, of my core group of friends to hang out with... I know who would do what so I plan accordingly. Often though, it's usually me and 2 other people 8/10 times I go out... then I often convince another person or two to come hang out...lol.

i have no idea... but I like them and don't think I'd function without them. Plus it makes me feel good when I'm around people and having fun, I get joy out of friends also having fun in my company. If I sat at home it may make me actually think of shit that's not going so good in life and bring me down, so I'd rather just live life "high" in that sense to keep negativity in my life at a low. (I've still never done any type of drugs... so not that kinda high)

It keeps me happy and always doing shit. I know life is short, so I'll live it up as much as I can with other people that I enjoy being around.

What is your preferred method of hanging out with friends?
    1. Begin with one nice-smelling, tidy house at a cosy room temperature.
    2. Add one two course meal (main and dessert) and hand-made snacks and dips.
    3. Add a bottle of wine and some mixer drinks with cola, etc.
    4. Add ambient music, perhaps a cool/funny DVD.
    5. Add singstar, possibly a BBQ on the deck if the weather is good.
    6. Wash the dogs and make sure they are dry, fed, happy and smell like flowers.
    7. Add husband and 2-6 friends.

Blend until properly tipsy and giggly. After dinner, allow resting time of up to half an hour before singstar and outrageous drunkenness sets in. Oh, and muse at the idiosyncrasies and what not of the world. Sometimes we talk cars too.

    Where do you go?
Favourite haunts are each other's houses, the dog beach, the park for a picnic, the odd movie, go karting, car cruises and laser tag.

What is the setting and atmosphere like?
    Relaxed and open.

    What do you typically do?
Entertain, play, take interest in the recent activities of friends, make a good atmosphere and then melt into the ambience and enjoy it with my buddies.

    When do you typically go?
Mostly evenings, the odd lunch here and there.

    Is there an unofficial routine?
    Eat-Drink-Play

Who usually goes? How many people?
I like small, close knit groups, with the odd new member being welcomed in and intertwined. That way I can create an atmosphere that is tailor-made to suit everyone there and take time with each meal. Yes I know. Just yes, I know.

Why do you hang out with friends?
Because I care about them and it is neat.

    What function does it serve?
Making my buddies feel valued, interesting and important, as well as having a wicked time!
