I think what Joy means is that your PoLR stands out when you're drunk. Take Joy, for example: she refers to her friend Cap'n Mo as (and I quote) " in a bottle."

Doesn't really apply to me. I'm a dick when I'm drunk, and I get in lots of fights. Maybe my PoLR is ...?

    *cannot see himself being INxJ*
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

I havent seen any function relation yet. For example, I become extremely gregarious (and quite annoying to be honest) when drunk (whihc is one reason I refrain). My Ni/Te buddy becomes really sweet and caring and chatty. He used to be quite the asshole when drunk. His perspective has changed. I think this is mainly a social issue. We're simply doing what we want to do and using "mr.bottle" as an excuse for specific behavior. "It really wasnt me, it was the liquor that was talking." Or the classic example in alcohol-related abuse: "It wasnt me that hit you, hunny, I was drunk, the liquor did it." We all know X person wouldnt have hit Y person if they really didnt want to--alcohol or not.

I don't think we can begin to explain how alcohol affects different types. People are affected differently, it may not have anything to do with type.

When I drink I get energy, become more social, more outgoing, more confident, if I am with people.

If I drink alone, I get less tense, and somewhat sad.

This is because Alcohol is a Depressant. You feel like you get "energy" but if you were to look at yourself sober(Get a videocamera) Your motor skills and almost everything about your brain and sense of anything is depressed.

lol, actually I sometimes because a ninja when I drink. But sometimes I fall down the stairs and sprain my ankle. Although usually I don't get clumbsy unless I'm really drunk. Hehe, it's funny... I always think I had 4 drinks. I'll say, "I don't know how I got like this, I only had 4 drinks..." and the people I was with would be like, "Joy, you had at least twice that...."

I think the effects of alcohol may loosely be related to type via the following :

Upon drinking, alcohol tends to reduce inhibitions and bring to the surface whatever is on the mind of the drinker. If someone is generally happy in life, drinking is generally a pleasant experience, if someone is having a tough time of things, drinking may tend to make you a bit sad, if your not really interested in socialising it can make you tired etc. This maybe why drinking effects you differently at different times, because your general mood changes over time, and your mood from day to day changes (similarly this applies to drug taking).

As different types have different general demenours, it may on average effect different types differently, eg ESTp aggressivness ( ) may make them more prone to get into fights when drunk although there will be lots of variability reflecting current mood.

    etc for the other types.

    Just a thought.

Well, i am drinking Some crown royal right now. a gift from an ISFp friend of mine which i did not myself get a present for since i am an ass.

Well, when i drink i tend to get very expressive and bizarre.

alcohol tears away inhibitions, so we let out what we are thinking more easily. I often cry out "look at me! give me attention" but in a comedic way. i also have a tendency to get very touchy feely with the oppostite sex. I have been told I have groped and fondled while simultaneously saying "i don't mean this in a sexual way!"

I come across as so ridiculous that no one gets mad at me although i have gotten kicked out of a bar before due to my behavior.

So i guess we say and do what we want more than usual- so i guess it is related to POLR in some regards.

Cone your INFj buddy came to our channel and was telling us all about you. Quite enlightening.

Nothing beats a few shots of cognac to keep you going late at night...

Again, I'll be the minority here but drinking is a lot easier than personal growth.

I know, fine one to talk.

At times, I had a lot of fun with drinking when younger - I thought it made me so much more socially confident and outgoing.

Not till later did I realize that most of the time it made me look like a drunken fool.

Watch out . . . it's all too easy to get dependent on it for what you think it does for you.

There's one answer, Cone: Keep drinking.

I'm definitely the least likely to drink between all my peers (sigh @ being DD a lot) altho I do think it is good every blue moon (once a year is enough for me..). The temporary escape from reality is nice. The danger is in someone using it as a coping device. IT ISNT A REPLACEMENT! =D

When I get drunk I just get more creative and sentimental, so I guess yeah, it's a thing.

Still, actually learning how to harness my emotions in this way, rather then through chemical inducement, would be ideal.

yeah, the reason I cut back on drinking was because I was seeing a Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde thing emerging... like I would be too cold when I was sober because I knew I'd be able to more easily deal with both and things the next time I got drunk. And then I'd get in trouble. *sighs* yeah it's important to find balance without giving up inhibitions.
