    Default Voice Identification

Hey has anyone noticed a correlation between types and voice? I just noticed it with two INFps. Ok 1 similarity among all the people I know isn't much, but I don't pay attention to these things so there might be something to it.

what was the voice similarity you noticed? I have neglected paying attention to voice, but have heard from other people that have paid attention to type/voice correlation that such correlation might exist. Come to think of it, I believe I have noticed some similar voice features (maybe i should say "tone of voice" similarities) in esfj-s.

Well I can't really describe it using the right "sound jargon", but they basically have the same voice... I'd have trouble telling them apart. I think I noticed only because they also have the same accent.

O_O now that I think of it some other similarities are coming to mind but not between people I have typed for sure. I'll try to pay attention but my ears suck.

I think it could be cool to see if there are any similarities between forum members! Recording a voice clip shouldn't be as scary as pictures/videos.

Joy suggested we record something here: http://www.the16types.info/vbulletin...ighlight=voice

But not many people did it.

Totally. Occasionally I have been able to guess people's types right just from hearing them speak a little. What usually happens is that a person's voice reminds me of another person's voice of the same type, but not of all people of that type. Sometimes the similarities in voice are uncanny, but they are never type-wide, but just true for a small subset of each type.

they are correlations. for example, I know a EIE girl - her voice is pretty much like silence.

Which is how VI works too, as far as I know. Makes sense.

that's interesting. Of course i immediately connected this explanation with your type of enfp.

Ehhh, I think there might be slight correlations, but not nearly this clear-cut. For instance, many SLE men have deep, gruff voices, but have you listened to Mike Tyson, who is like the epitome of Se-ness? He has a high, boyish voice. Recently I typed an outgoing girl as an SEE due to her obvious ethics and low, resounding voice. Then, after a few meetings (she is an English student of mine) I realized she was EII through her reactions to things and the points she was making. Her voice is almost as deep as Mike Tyson's. Go figure. That being said, I know a number of IEEs and a few ILEs with a voice tember very much like mine. My speech is slow, so that puts me in the sedate Ne subset, while others speak fast. Also, the ability to speak in clearly structured, complete sentences does not seem to be type related.

I recently typed a new starter at my workplace as INFj partly based on the tone of her voice being similar in a way to my INFj cousin (it's not the only thing that made me decide, but it was that that made me suddenly go "ah HA!" in my mind and realise). I'd say it can work, but not in all situations. I think Rick summed it up best in his first post in this thread.

Thanks; I have also noticed this.

The way I see it, result types tend to speak by leaping fowards, then taking a few steps back, then leaping forward again, going back, etc.
