    Default Types and Overcompensation

    I think, weak functions are subject to overcompensation, especially function 4. By overcompensation I mean, trying to overcompensate cognitive weaknesses, at a point which it won't appear any natural though.

    "I'll be the boldest dude/girl the world has ever known"
    "I'll be the sweetest dude/girl the world has ever known"

    "I'll be the most creative dude/girl the world has ever known"
    "I'll be the most open-minded dude/girl the world has ever known"

    "I'll be the most efficient dude/girl the world has ever known"
    "I'll be the most logical dude/girl the world has ever known"

    "I'll be the most expressive dude/girl the world has ever known"
    "I'll be the most ethical dude/girl the world has ever known"

    Think of this.

    Never happens to me.
    You're not currently overcompensating on function 4. But on some stage of cognitive development (usually at age 20-30), it may happen.

    @macinturch

    Yes a fixation on the vulnerable function can result in tendency towards certain traits.

    But as usual you've got it wrong.

    Guys, Ricks already done an article on 'fixations on the vulnerable functions' which is much more accurate than this.

    It should really say "I'll be the nicest..." or something like that. ENTps often naively believe that they can be friends (Rick used the term "buddies") with everyone. Fe ego types usually try to do the same, but they back it up with tons of Fe.

    I agree, I'm not sure 'ethical' is the right word. I get the drift though, I think. Just a bad word choice.
