    Default Socionics and Handwriting

Psychologists agree that we all have some pattern for handwriting.

Write naturally something. Whatever. But naturally, as you're taking notes, not as you're doing an exam.

    For example :

    - Rational types tend to write curves as they were lines (thus making lowercase A and E letters unreadable)
    - Irrational types tend to write lines as they were curves

    - Sensing types tend to write more Arial-like, especially
    - Intuitive types tend to write more doctor-like, especially

    and so on.

Any other ideas ??? It's a way to assess types... If you have some hesitations, mainly between J/P, you can type yourself just by reading your notes or writing something.

    Already collected handwritings from :

    - ESE
    - ESI
    - SEE
    - SEI

    - IEI
    - IEE
    - EIE
    - EII

    - SLE

    - LII
    - ILE
    - LIE

missing : LSE, LSI, SLI, ILI

I want to see some scientific evidence for this first.

I've played tic-tac-toe against a chicken in Vegas, his lines were more straight than I could ever do. I only bring up this fact because my mother used to say I write like "chicken scratch" and now that I've seen a chicken actually write, I feel my handwriting is worse than I had initially thought.

I've read three books on handwriting analysis and they seem to have about as much basis in studies as socionics or MBTI, etc ... one of the books specifically dealt with handwriting analysis (almost shortened it to HA but that might be misread here) for the purposes of criminal investigation.
There are points that strike me as too specific, such as forming "e"s a certain way means a certain thing about you ... but trends seem easier to pin correspondences to, such as how wide or narrow your left & right margins are (on unlined paper).
I like it as more of a fun thing - my friends & I have exchanged HW samples and taken turns seeing what the book says about each other. There were striking coincidences, but also things that didn't ring true either to the person in question or to the rest of us as observers of the PIQ.

I'd also like to rebut, since I saw somewhere else that SLI's supposedly have horrible handwriting, that mine is great. My Mom will actually save up cards in which she wants to send a handwritten note, so she can dictate them to me!
Another random tidbit that just occurred to me: my Dad, who LII, always writes in all caps ...

    lol @ cracka

My ex, ISTp, wrote in tiny manuscript letters, rather spaced out. I'd actually describe his writing as 'kid-like' too. It was kind of cute, albeit painstaking
Waaaaay too slow for me. I can't stand writing in manuscript or all capitals. Mine's a mish-mash of cursive, and is pretty legible. My handwriting changes with my mood, too.

perhaps we should all post images of our handwriting... and see if there are patterns. This would be difficult because first I'd have to write something, and then I'd have to scan it, and then I'd have to jpg it, and then I'd have to stick it in photobucket, and then I'd have to copy the link, and then I'd have to post it, as you see the process is exhausting.

This was a funny thing though, when I write at work it's like notes and such, other than that I use a keyboard for everything anymore. This might be the longest thing I've written in YEARS actually...hahaha.

Cracka, I do not have a camera, or access to one. A camera would cost me money... I'd have to do research and find one I like... then I'd have to spend money on it... then it would inevitably incur more costs later on. One day it would stop working entirely. Nothing lives forever. Entropy is so mean. Woe is me!

i've also read books on handwriting analysis. Cracka, yours looks a little like an entp i knew. Diana, i notice most your uniform, wide spacing and slant. It's pretty.

Edit: Loki my handwriting looks kinda like yours! except yours is more compact, mine is more long and spindly.

I'm afraid that I do not have scanner or a convenient camera for photos, but I will say that on a superficial glance that my handwriting would be somewhat of a mix between that of Loki's, Subterranean's, and maybe Slacker Mom's.

@ Slacker Mom - Our handwriting's not terribly similar, but I do have a tendency to use two different styles of capitals in the same paragraph as well, like the way you write your 'I' two different ways. I leave the tails off my 'y's, but not my 'g's and you leave them off your 'g's, but not your 'y's...haha

This is the best I could do for now... I don't have a (working) scanner:

I think it looks kind of girly and . I used to write in all caps and really small, but that took too long when taking notes so I switched to cursive. Sometimes I go back to printing caps.

Example of an ENFj's handwriting. She was being silly and wrote in my notebook in Spanish.

It translates as "You are burning yourself in the house. Oh my God"

    Then my handwriting:

    D-SEI 9w1

This is me and my dual being scientific together

    Neither. I'm IEI.

Here's a picture of the printing I was talking about - I find I tend to write in print when I'm using pencil mostly, and use cursive with ballpoint or rollerball pen:

Notice the inconsistencies in the "I"s (only the first-person "I" seems to have serifs) - but it's a bit more legible I think.

I don't particularly like my handwriting. It's uneven and ill-controlled and misshapen.

Here's me writing an outline to myself -

And here's some notes I took last Friday during a meeting -

I apologize for the poor quality of the first one. It seems that pen ink does not photograph as well as pencil. I'd have scanned them, but my drivers are missing and I'm not sure where to find them.
