Seriously though ... I tend to find all Beta posts much more appealing than any posts by other types, it's just a general pattern I've noticed considering how much time I spend in the Beta Quadra section.

I know my own posts are very self-centered most of the time and not really of any intellectual value, but I'm too lazy these days to say much more than a few random lines here or there.

Specifically though, I find niffweed actually to be quite entertaining now, if not really annoying in the past Same with discojoe. I really enjoy Gilly's posts, they are very entertaining. I love Herzy's too. Straight and to the point is how I like 'em with a dash of controversy/humor

The one poster that I can not seem to read much of is ifmd95. I'm not sure why that is - I mean, everytime I see any of his posts, I totally just skip over them. Once I tried to read one or two but that was a bad idea. It's not even that I could not understand his point, or that his point was bad in any way, it's just the way he types things .. his grammar, or his style, that puts me off. I can't read it. Strange... :S

Okay, namely I'm confused as to exactly why this thread is even necessary ... it does seem like you are trying to provoke something UDP and you clearly do like talking about yourself/drama. Yeah, wow, that IS low and I hope you don't ever say anything like that again because I'm suffering from my own anxiety/depression pretty bad as of late. Not many people at all know about it on this forum because I don't want to come on and moan about my troubles or whatever .. but realize that it's very real and does affect judgment, behavior, etc.

I think that it's very hard to imagine Gilly as an SLE, and if he was beta the only beta type I could imagine him as is EIE. To me, he's just a big goofball. I mentioned in his type thread reasons why I saw ILE, but you saw how that went.

I actually CAN see the possibility for SLE in Ezra if I try, because when I attempted to get his goat in that thread, the way he reacted was much more in an ST fashion. However, he's not very observant, *shrug* mistaking people's avatars for others on a couple occassions, if that means anything at all (prob. not).

Gilly on the other hand, sort of does this freak-out kind of thing. It's amusing but totally uncontrolled (yes, bipolar, I know) and his reactions all seem Neish to me. Whatever. People will settle on the types they think they are, not the types anyone else thinks they are, and arguing with them on that can be silly. They have to come to their own conclusions, unless they're specifically asking for input.

Fine, I'll try and start you guys off:

+Loud, LOUD laughing... lots of facial expressions, emotiveness and general obnoxiousness. This goes for all the Beta types, actually. Even the introverts, whom can appear passive (INFps) and/or too serious (ISTjs) will really crack out in psychotic sounding laughter when they think something is funny

+Competitive FIGHTING spirit... None of the Beta types will let anything get in their way. Probably the first to get angry @ authority or being treated unfairly. Attempting to create "revolutionary" stances on things to change around whatever is unappealing to them.

+Seem pretty crazy at first glance... as UDP pointed out ever so nicely, when he looks at the behavior of Beta types, he usually thinks "they have some sort of mental problem". Yes, we are known for kookiness. The Fe + Se + Ni + Ti leads to fiercely dramatic emotional expression of inner desires and having those inner desires manifest themselves in the outside world no matter what, and believing that they are in fact, CORRECT.

This is from the first page of the field guide, written by SL.
I do not identify with beta spirit, and as SL pointed out, I have felt this way for a long time.

Group behavior

Preference for larger groups where participation is "collective" rather than focused on individuals for any length of time, but with likely "domination" by more assertive individuals. Loud exchange of jokes for the benefit of the group, occasionally at one individual's expense. Attempt at drawing others into the group activity: for example, in a situation where there are "group rituals" going on (as in drinking, dancing, etc), good-natured pressure on "outsiders" to also participate in them, with a sort of puzzled dismay if they prefer not to. Personal experiences tend to be discussed from the point of view of their external impact rather than the individual's own personal view of them.

I am the exact opposite of this - and yet I am Beta? I much prefer quieter events; I am bored at large events.

For Betas the activity or the topic are not as important as the atmosphere. Therefore when a group of betas is together, they tend to end up trying to entertain each other. They exchange fun (and often loud) stories to feed the atmosphere, so that the group energy won't run out. People talk fast and they often add comments to other people's stories if they feel that the pace is slowing down. When someone starts to talk, he takes on the obligation to entertain for the duration of the monologue and, in a friendly group, other people only interrupt to try and help him keep control of the atmosphere.

I don't really care about "fun and often loud stories" - that certainly is now how I spend my time relaxing, or how I want to spend my free time.

Talking about personal matters in a group is not something that Betas generally do. It's viewed almost as treachery when something that was told in a one-on-one conversation is retold in front of a group, or when someone criticizes another person's traits in front of the group. Betas believe such things should be told in private and should not be used to embarrass or belittle a friend.

Betas also don't like it when people tell long, slow stories. Betas try to be polite and listen to the story, and they will forgive you if it was boring for them, but if someone does it too often they might not be invited back. Betas restrict slow stories to one-on-one conversations. However, IEIs are more likely to adjust to the slower stories because they are very flexible conversationalists.

This does not bother me.



... how I am "beta" and "Fe valuing" I do not see.
There are many stories from my beta family so I won't give them a number.
But, they "relax" by playing competitive board games against each other, late into the evening sometimes. I rarely play with them, only if I really feel like it. Tonight, I walked out, deliberately and directly avoiding an offer to play another board game - despite being proded by two ENFjs. Their provocations only irritated me further. I would consider doing it more often out of a sense of loyalty - but provoking me to be a part of their competitive atmosphere is extremely unappealing. So I decided to come home and do my own thing, which was much, much, much more enjoyable than staying and playing a board game, competitively, amongst my family.

This profile talks about how beta's feel an odd sense of disappointment when people don't join in? I do not understand this, and never expect anyone to necessarily join into what I do - I think it is rude to just expect people, and I dislike it even more when this "expectation" that you have on others, when unfulfilled, leads to disappointment, or even resentment. It's your own fault for expecting such a thing, you're not entitled to being mad at someone because they did not comply with your expectations.



PS: one thing I would like to add, any time you are "torn" between someone being in opposing quadras, that is not really a "narrow margin". There is no "fine line" here, there are blatant differences.
