Default Socionics recommended in Brazil as a tool in law enforcement

    http://jus2.uol.com.br/doutrina/texto.asp?id=7350

At least by this one apparently obscure Brazilian attorney, arguing that socionics techniques, including VI, would be useful not in determining whether someone could commit a crime or not (anyone could) but whether or not a given person would be likely to apply a certain modus operandi.

The author mentions VI, but does not make it the center of his argument -- the article seemed rather moderate to me. He does seem to have a good grasp of what the essence of socionics is about.

Perhaps you could read articles before commenting on them.

The guy does understand the differences between socionics and MBTI (obviously much better known in Brazil) and defends the use of socionics as a way to understand why people of specific types could get depressed and how they would act, and serve to atenuate sentences and help their rehabilitation -- very humane intentions really. He did go to the trouble of understanding the PoLR, and the HA, which he calls "something people pursue, but never quite achieve".

Arg, I don't know any portuguese or else I'd be glad to read it.

Very interesting post though my friend. Great find. Wonder how effective it'll be.

<shrug> I know, but it tends to sometimes spit out gibberish. I'll give it a go though.

Edit: damn, I just can't. It's too hard for me to read broken english. But based on what your saying and what I could gloss from it, I hope they start implementing this pretty widely.

It's not that bad, I've just read it.

Anyway I wonder what happened to the proposal (it was written in 2005).

Almost certainly nothing came of it -- the author is just an attorney who happens to be interested in socionics; he just published the article in a Brazilian online law magazine.

Interestingly, he did mention VI but in order to distance socionics from the theories of Cesare Lombroso, an Italian jurist of the 19th century who proposed physiognimy techniques to spot "born criminals"; aware that references to VI might make people think of Lombroso's theories, the author of the article makes the point of saying that socionics is not a "repetition of Lombroso's crude studies".

the idea that criminals change their modus operandi based on socionics type is not a good precedent at all.

    What do you mean?

The Google translation does seem to be somewhat better than the babelfish one, btw.

i mean that, what i was able to gleam from this (i translated the thing into spanish, which wasn't much better; i didn't look at it in english) was that he wasn't necessarily advocated any specific criminal behavior correlation to type but was advocating fairly discrete modus operandi. determining criminal modus operandi might be useful if you're looking for the right things, but that was not really specified at all. i got the feeling that his interpretation of how socionic types act was fairly rigid.

i don't know. this could easily be a translation issue.
