    Default hyper-competitive at sports

What types are most likely to be hyper-competitive at sports? There's two guys I watched recently and both exhibit the same crazy competitive attitude in their games (one of them happens to play kickball ) Both of them place really high standards on themselves and will become angry with a potentially violent edge if they or someone else underperforms, ticks them off, or even corrects their game. One of them nearly started a fight after someone told him he fouled in Ultimate. He didn't even know the rules that well, and he automatically accused the guy of being in the wrong. Kind of a loose cannon considering that Ultimate is self-referreed. One of the guys is very attentive towards his wife, that's the weird thing. She totally wears the pants... She's an Ixxj of some sort. I haven't noticed them verbally contesting the rules. Just getting p*ssed off when they make a mistake..

I'm competitive when it comes to anything that can be considered a game.

    I'm a wreck.

My ISTp brother was hyper-competitive at sports (esp. football)...he used to dribble the ball with quite some presence, and used to go for every tackle etc. (But I was almost as bad ...I just wasn't as talented. I was dangerous with a hockey stick though...apparently you're supposed to keep it below waist-height.

I'm very competitive in video games or computer games. Strange, because when I play sport I feel pretty weak and slow but when I play other kind of game less physical, I'm very aggresive.

I'm competitive in sports only if I know I'm good at the game itself, and I don't know the other people I'm playing against. Otherwise though, I just want to have fun.

Fucking shit, your mother is fucking insane. If I was playing with her I'd seriously be freaking out and simply would not let her continue until she got that fixed. Fuck, a careless moment like that can fuck you up for life, she could've lost a limb.

You're mother sounds just like the type of person I try to actively avoid. Emphasis on competitiveness = me walking in the other direction. I'm the embodiment of anti competitiveness. If I play I expect to enjoy myself.

I'm mildly competitive. I don't care about winning but I care about doing tricks and scoring in a way that shows off skill. However, if somebody is competitive towards me, I become competitive too in reaction. I also hate when there are people in my team pushing me to be more competitive. I quarrel every time with them (usually ends up in fist fighting, and usually they are ESTjs)

Luckily I've always been pretty athletic and good at pretty much every sport I've ever done so it helps to be competitive and always win...hahaha.

I'm not very competitive... I usually even cheer for the other team if they do something very cool.
I want to be better than the other players however (team mates included), so that drives me to put in as much effort as I can, and not be satisfied even with winning at times.
I did play on a hurt ankle once because we had no reserves and would risk losing the game... that was team spirit I think. Definitely not gonna do that again.

I could care less about sports, doing them or watching them. The only "sport" I was ever remotely interested in was karate, that was alot of fun for me, plus I'm sure that if I ever got into a fight trained "instinct" would kick in and I'd be able to hurt somebody I wasn't ever competitive at it though... it was a very introverted, for me only sort of thing.

A Se-valuing type would be naturally competitive. A type like an LSE, who would give it their all, may appear to be cutthroat, but it's unlikely that they'd actually carry the ethos of 'win at any cost'.

I'd be more interested to know about that types that aren't athletically competitive.
Ideas don't determine who's right. Power determines who's right. And I have the power. So I'm right.

i am very competitive. Not like outgoingly, i never boast or brag. But i've been training 160 miles a week on my bike, and i hate seeing other people around because i know they don't work as hard as me. I am very silently competitive. in my chemistry class i never present answers because i like to see what other poeople think and assess their knowledge of the subject(i usually know everything, so i evaluate them as a teacher might).

but, i'm very uncompetitive when it comes to things i don't care about. videogames, card games, games in general. also, i'm not competitive in my love life. if a girl likes someone else she can like that person. I don't want to have to win a relationship with somebody.

    Liar.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Yeah. These things surprise me too. But just because you're dominant in one area doesn't mean you're going to be that way in all areas, usually. Thank god human beings aren't simple.

You know those straight male porn stars that brutally throat fuck those poor girls? Passive as hell in real life, and very slow to anger. Well not always, but it's pretty much a generic stereotype that porn stars- people who are called to do some aggressive shit on camera, are extremely shy.

I can be dominant socially and psychologically but not really physically though. I just never had that much of a physical presence.

WOW this is old. Well, after spending more time with them, I determined that Mr. Hyper-competitive is LSE, and his wife is ESI. I don't remember who the other guy even was.. oops...

And they all lived happily ever after.

I don't understand why people get so competitive over a GAME. It doesn't matter. It's not survival. It's a game. Get competitive over stuff that's actually life and death, that actually matters in the grand scheme of things.

Like Marilyn Manson said "I don't believe in sports."

I don't think of myself as a competitive person. Sometimes I find the competitive spirit annoying. Sports are largely irrelevant to me, though I feel some admiration for some of it when I notice traits that would easily fit into an idealized version of myself. It sort of bothers me when people routinely insist upon being overly competitive about everything because I think "it's really not that important" and I don't really admire people losing control or being a bad sport about competition (as though they're trying to subject everyone else to their inner insecurities). Sometimes it's that they hurt inside so acting like an asshole helps them (this has a different flavor to it). I don't think sports and games are important when on boards or in fields or courts unless there's some deep meaning or symbol about what winning represents (when there is meaning, I think competition can be uplifting). Sometimes I like to win games though, but not to show I'm better than someone else. That's largely what I don't like, the constant 'trying to be better than everyone else' idea... if I'm tending that way in my mind I think it means that my ego is getting out of control... it means I'm not doing it because it's actually important to me, but rather to "prove" something in some game in my own mind. I do think competition can be fun and playful sometimes though, and I would have no problem with that if it isn't being taken personally. Except sometimes I don't like losing. And I do like that feeling inside of going towards a goal like a freight train where nothing can "stand in the way", maybe that's "competitive." Now that I think of it I like being playfully competitive with someone at work, but I suspect she started it. But honestly, I'm just not very competitive.

Like Marilyn Manson said "I don't believe in sports."

Sports and competition in general have been a huge part of my life. I'd say I learned as much about life playing with a team on a field or competing with myself in solo sports as I did in 20 years of schooling.

So, with that said... Just because it doesn't matter to you, doesn't mean it doesn't mean something to someone else. The sense of accomplishment I get from winning something and being part of a team, or just doing really well at something is huge for my well being.

This is eerily similar to me. Not the bike riding (because that's just crazy ) but the silent competitiveness and judgement. People sometimes mistake it for being shy or humble but technically I guess it isn't .

The lack of competition in the relationship arena also resonates strongly with me. It's part of the reason that jealousy in a relationship does not really happen in my case. In terms of competing with a significant other in other things though (games or whatever else) I think my attraction would build if they could beat me in some things (still trying to mentally compile things I would allow. I know some physical aspects I care next to nothing about, but there is still something about "being a man!" that means some losses just shouldn't happen).

I feel this way too actually. Girls are often (imo) more competitive about relationships than guys even. I guess I feel like if I have to compete for someone (which I'm stubbornly unwilling to do in the first place and would much rather walk away) then it doesn't feel like it means very much anyway... and it becomes a sort of game that doesn't feel genuine. Also if the guy doesn't have a will of his own and is only going to go with whoever does the best at "competing" then it's not a very good sign anyway. When guys compete over girls I get a similar feeling... I can only seem to like one person at a time anyway, so it would be difficult to see myself in a position where I'm deeply in love with two people and I just can't decide which one to be with (or something).

I very competitive. But I don't like sports, so I'm not competitive in those, but competitive in everything else. Actually so much, that complaints about my personality that I get, are related to that.

My mom (ENFp) refuses to play any kind of game with me, I had to convience her that D&D wasn't about competing against other people, so we could play that

Only sport-like thing I have played in anytime recently is air-hockey. And my opponents are scared to play agaisnt me, you can see them doing a dodging reflex everytime I hit the puck. This applies mostly to alphas.

Then I get complaints that I talk too much about winning. That I supposedly put down other people by it. This complaint comes mostly from ISTj, that has listened me talking with other Gammas, because we often reminiscent about owning everyone. I think it's just inspiring to talk about that stuff.
...the human race will disappear. Other races will appear and disappear in turn. The sky will become icy and void, pierced by the feeble light of half-dead stars. Which will also disappear. Everything will disappear. And what human beings do is just as free of sense as the free motion of elementary particles. Good, evil, morality, feelings? Pure 'Victorian fictions'.

yeah, well everyone's scared to play sports with me too because playing sports is like fighting a war and i consider everyone to be an enemy, even those on my team. i probably compete with the people on my team more than with anyone on the opposing team because i'm hardly going to see those people, where as i need to constantly be trying to be better than all the people on my team. i find myself intimidating them often when they screw up, and mocking them, and they never hear the end of it. i can remember every mistake every single one of them has made since the beginning. i'm pretty sure that as much as i'm uncertain about how competitive i can be (maybe i underestimated my aggressive nature), that i am at least more competitive than warlord is, and if he and i were on the same team everyone would be more unwilling to play due to my presence than his. i just want to be clear about this. when i'm alone with the coach i go on and on about the team spirit though in a really moving voice that inspires him to keep coaching us, and to not kick me off the team for my antics and inappropriate behavior.

In the even grander scheme of things, nothing at all matters. So it just returns to the subjective impression of being a winner instead of a loser.
