Default ESTj and the nice guy / asshole switch

In my youth I was always the nice guy. But coming here to college seems to have brought out my general asshole nature, in that I find it much easier to be harsher and colder to people. Do you know what brings this out in LSEs?

I think being at home provided me with a more inherent form of stability that I like. Or at least having steady solid relations with some people. My family has changed a lot since my youth time, everyone has gone their separate ways now. So I suppose one possible lead is that the ability to be a nice guy is related to Fi confidence, or having a stable core of "real relationships"

When i have that it is a lot easier to be a generally nice guy.

    Does that make sense?

What brings out being an asshole? Maybe you being 'nice' wasn't the real you.

It's not necessarily being an asshole as in, a real mean person.

But just much colder to people. As I said I think it has to do with relationship security - I do not have a solid core of people I can count on.

It might make interactions with strangers easier. I know i'm initially very cold to people I don't know, not to be mean, but more because I just don't know them. I can't trust them just yet because as you know, there are a lot of untrustworthy people out there..

I've never met an LSE whom I'd call particularly harsh. Tactless, sometimes, but they almost always try to be affable and "nice" to strangers, at least as far as I've seen. I'd call LSIs or LIEs "harsh" way before LSEs.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Hm, I suppose I am still not explaining it right. I agree, in that I am generally kind, but, just...... reserved. I don' tknow.

This thread should be deleted, really. It's pointless.

In general I'd say that living away from home takes away the rose-tinted glasses, so to speak, in terms of how you're "supposed" to behave around people, so maybe you're just normal and have no external motivation to be nice to some people.
