    Default The Value of Fe

IMO, Fe is probably the most underrated and consistently devalued or demonized function of the 8 (at least here on the forum). Also, Fe, even in not-Socio-speak context, is often written off as being worthless, pointless, detrimental to productivity, and so forth. That being said, it's time for a little Fe appreciation

Post a movie, quote, experience, or whatever, that demonstrates the value of Fe.

    Movies:

    Big Fish
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

Funny you should mention Big Fish. My ISFp friend just told me last week that that's a movie I absolutely must see.

How about the new show Pushing Daisies??

Cute. My ESFj daughter sounds exactly that enthusiastic every day after school. And then she doesn't wait for me to reply but launches into a very detailed description of the art project they are doing, peppered with "I just love it sooo much!"

You do not strike me as ILI, but that is for another thread.

An example of Fe. Morrisey and the Smiths- 'Girlfriend in coma'. Legendary song, but not their best.

Default Re: The Value of Fe

I think ego types are often very globally compassionate. Sometimes I get the impression that some gamma SFs only really care for people who are very close family or friends while ESFjs for instance tend to be more genuinely concerned about other people's welfare regardless of whether or not they are very close to them. Also, I think that Fe types often have a less give to get mentality or expectations that because they are close to someone then that means they must say "yes" to almost any request directed at them or it means the other person is lacking in caring. As for the sort of direct expression of feelings in some over done or constant way, I really dislike that I have to say. I usually feel pressured and unbalanced by a tons of exuberant feelings being directed at me but I appreciate that usually when Fe ego types do this they are really being genuine about their emotional state rather than faking which some people do.
