    Default So what is my type?

    I am relatively new to this forum. I've mostly just been reading others posts and trying to figure out socionics but i havent quite been able to figure out my type for certain. I think I am an ISFj or maybe a INFj. That said I would appreciate your help in trying to figure it out.

    I am a pretty hard worker at school. I always do my homework and knowing that I have not done an assignment stresses me out. I am fairly good at most subjects but I really like Psychology. I enjoy trying to figure people out. It is hard for me to want to learn things that I can't see myself doing anything with. For example, I have never liked history. I don't see how I can use facts about something that happened a long time ago. I don't understand people who cut class all the time and don't do any work.

    I know a lot of people but I would say that I only have a small group of good friends. It is hard for me to make friends and I do not trust people easily. I like to help my friends with thier problems but I don't like to share my own. I feel like I am just boring or ranting on people when I try to share my problems. I don't really feel a strong connection to my family but that could be just because I don't really get along with any of them that well and I don't feel like they understand me at all.

    I don't like to have attention drawn to myself and I get nervous when it is. I also don't like people who show off to try to get attention or people manipulate others. I hate being manipulated as well. I have no problem helping people out but I don't like being told what to do or being coerced into doing something. I am generally a nice and quiet person but sometimes I can say harsh things without thinking. Also, when people hurt me I tend to either make them feel guilty about it or just give them the cold shoulder for a long time.

    I enjoy playing strategy games and video games. I really enjoy RISK. I also enjoy a lot of sports like volleyball, ultimate frisbee, football, etc. While enjoy playing I dislike when people get too serious or get mad about losing or gloat a lot when winning. I only really get irritated when someone breaks the rules because they just have to win. I also enjoy discussions about moral or philosophical subjects. Mostly I just listen and absorb information and form my own opinion. I only really express my ideas if someone has left something important out or if I need certain information to figure out my opinion. While I really enjoy and need people to have fun I also need time to myself. Sometimes I just like to relax and watch tv or listen to the radio and sometimes I think about my day and process events or things people have said or done.

    Feel free to ask me questions if you need certain information to figure out my type.

    Honest question. This might seem a bit 'shocking' to you but I think it helps figure out one's true type.

    How do you really feel about pornography, and what are your sexual desires like? Do you fantasize about a lot of kinky shit or are they strictly vanilla?

    If you really want to know then we have to get deep in this shit. ;D And to me, people end up being a little bit too much like their quasi-identicals when you first meet somebody.

    If you were inherently offended by that, then I think it's a safe bet that you're Delta or Gamma instead of Beta or Alpha.

    answer one or all of these questions:

    describe your relationships with other people.
    what are your hobbies/interests and why do you enjoy them?
    how did you come to be the person you are?
    what kind of person would you like to be and why?
    is this restaurant run properly?

    I guess I only have a few good friends with whom I share most everything. I also have friends which I just enjoy hanging out with and don't really tell personal things to. A lot of my friends are Christians (as well as myself) and sometimes it is hard to tell the ones that will come down with harsh judgement and the ones that are understanding. I enjoy hanging out or playing games in small groups of people I know well. When in large groups I usually don't talk as much and I mostly just follow along. I like to plan to do things with my friends and it irritates me a little when they break the plans but its not that big of a deal. I usually just adjust.

    One of my hobbies is Psychology I guess. I like to figure out and analyze people. I like to know what they are really thinking. I like figuring out who likes me, who doesn't, who feels sorry for me and the same applies to how people feel about someone other than myself. I like card games and strategic games. I really don't know why I like them so much. I guess it is a way for me to show that I am intelligent even though I am pretty modest. I also like video games. I like all sorts and just find them entertaining and fun. I like to watch movies but not reading so much. Some of my favorite movies are V for Vendetta, The Gladiator, The Fifth Element, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Kill Bill. I love going to the beach. I find it very relaxing. I like Christian, rock, and techno music. One of my favorite tv shows is Ghost in the Shell which I think I saw mentioned on here before...

    Being a Christian has certainly shaped my life as well as a trip to Honduras I have taken. I'm not really sure what else to put here...

    I am pretty happy with the way I am. I think I could be a little more friendly/warm but everyone has their strengths and weaknesses.

    Is the restaurant run properly? ummm sure why not.

    what aspects of your life do you believe are the most important? ie your faith, your interests/hobbies, your friends, etc.

    also, you mentioned that it was difficult to tell which of your friends were understanding and which were excessively harsh. what type of people do you get along with? what characteristics would your ideal friend(s) have?

    one last question; sorry if i'm going overboard here: how do you think that your faith, your experiences, and your relationships with others have transformed you?

    The more in-your-face somebody is about being a good, moral person are usually the ones you have to watch out for the most, imho.

    And yeah I know it's an awkward question but everything else feels like a question that wouldn't pertain to who you really are, just your social mask. Life is naturally awkward (insert 'Wonder Years' moment here), so let's embrace the awkwardness!

    that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.

    one last question; sorry if i'm going overboard here: how do you think that your faith, your experiences, and your relationships with others have transformed you?
    I would say that my faith is the most important. As I have grown older I think I have learned that it's not all about following rules but just being understanding and trying to help others. Next would probably be my friends. My good friends are very important. I share most everything with them and they help me deal with problems and are just fun to hang out. I also always try to make sure everyone one is included, even people who arent my good friends. I guess next would be my hobbies. They are mostly just fun things I do with my friends or help me to understand my friends.

    Sometimes it is hard to figure out which of my Christian friends are understanding but not my non Christian ones. I think I get along best with people who are relaxed and can enjoy just hanging out and talking. I still like to have active fun too and I prefer people who just like to have fun and do not take it too seriously. I guess my ideal friends are understanding and nice. I guess I am kind of selfish in the fact that I like my good friends to always hang around me. I think I also tend to like friends who are warm and welcoming.

    I guess I would say that my faith, experiences, and relationships have helped me to understand my strenghts/weaknesses, have helped me to be more understanding of people (in both moral and behavioral ways) and have helped me to figure out that I want to be a counselor.

    EII is my guess, primarily because you seem to be more concerned with the delta-ish ideal of helping people and don't seem to place much focus on Se-related areas like discipline and control. even so, i'm not completely certain, and i think that ESI is a definite secondary possibility. sorry if that's not much help.

    i definitely do think that all of your responses are very much in line with Fi dominance. the importance of your connections with others, as well as empathy and understanding of others is all fairly typical.

    ultimately, you are the only one that can truly know your own type (maybe that's not universally true, but certainly in this online sort of environment it tends to apply). if you put some time into studying what the IM elements are you can perhaps ultimately decide for yourself.

    (describing in an ISFj)

    I would say I have a strong sense of loyalty to those I care about. As for valuing authority not so much. If the authority is someone I like I value them but if not then I just do what I have I need to get by and stay off their bad side but I don't respect them. I would say I have decent will power and think highly of those who have strong will power and a little lower of those who don't. I don't know it's difficult for me to figure out whether i prefer or . I do tend to like to absorb a lot of information. I can also usually figure out who's leading a group of people and things like who is upset or likes who. I guess I would say I am strong willed as well. I refuse to do tasks that seem utterly pointless to me, such as my mom telling me to clean every single day. But I also like to think of all the possibilities before I act. Well I guess more so all the things that could go wrong so I don't do them. I usually plan out how I am going to approach people about problems or plan out speeches for classes. Unfortunately I seem to forget everything when it comes to actually saying it. I guess I lean towards . For confrontations: If it is someone I don't know well or someone I am okay friends with I usually try to avoid confrontation. If it is someone I know well I have less of a problem being direct with my issue with them. With a boss I guess if I didn't know my boss well I would just complain to my fellow co-workers and if it got bad enough I would just quit. I probably wouldn't confront my boss. If I knew my boss well I would tell him/her the problem.

    the main difference between an ISFJ and INFJ are:

    ISFJ: try's to help people in a practical way. e.g. Doing the dishes for them. Remembering dates etc.
    INFJ: try's to help people in a psychological way. e.g. Sharing their world, supporting them emotionally.

    also note that there are some people here with highly unconventional perceptions of socionics. you must decide for yourself what information is useful and what is BS.

    I think that I try to help people in a psychological way but people don't always let me so I end up having to help them in more practical ways. Is it possible to be IXFJ? does it just mean undetermined or a blend (doens't seem possible in socionics but I want to make sure-refering to blend)? It's hard for me to tell from the descriptions but I guess I lean toward ISFJ because I tend to like more practical things rather than theories. I also seem to find the description of an ENTJ much more interesting than ESTJ.

    Firstly, it's not about which description you find interesting or appealing - it's about who you are.

    Secondly, no, it is not possible to be ISFj (ESI) in socionics. In MBTI, perhaps (as you can have balanced Sensing and Intuition), but no chance in socionics. You either have Extraverted Sensing as a secondary function or Extraverted Intuition. You can't have both, and you can't have none, otherwise you are not an INFj (EII) or an ISFj (ESI).

    EII is my guess..... Definitely exude Delta over Gamma values and all the figuring the inner stuff about things out comes across as Ne over Se.

    I don't know - I understand where Jarno is coming from. Think about it from a Dual perspective. What an LIE needs with their Si PoLR is someone who can support them practically; someone who can do the housework etc. For an LSE, who is perfectly practical, what is needed is some kind of dare I say spiritual element, which they lack, and which the EII is full of.

    Yeah but if you're looking at this from a typing perspective, both people help people in both ways. So ENTjs need a certain kind of help more often, and ESTjs need a certain type of help more often, sure. But if you put an INFj in a room, he/she is going to help the people in the room in whatever way those people need help. If coolguy was in a dual relationship and we knew that, and he helped his partner generally in one way or the other, that might help, but I think outside of that scenario it's a bit of a blind alley as far as typing goes.

    I agree, I agree. ENTjs have their moments when they need emotional help, and vice versa.

    The four clubs:

    NT= intellectual
    SF= social
    NF= humanist
    ST= pragmatist

    NT, intuitive subtype= intellectual + humanist
    NT, logical subtype= intellectual + pragamatist
    SF, sensory subtype= social + pragmatist
    SF, ethical subtype= social + humanist
    NF, intuitive subtype= humanist + intellectual
    NF, ethical subtype= humanist + social
    ST, sensory subtype= pragmatist + social
    ST, logical subtype= pragmatist + intellectual

    Look over your own centers of interest and aptitude and see how they may correlate to your main club, but also to your secondary one. Then try it out with some people you know(if you know their subtype!) This can also explain differences in centers of aptitude and interest between members of the same type.
    After reading this I thought maybe I would be an ISFj ethical subtype? of course I think was just a theory I don't know if it is correct.

    Yeah, you probably are. Is there anything stopping you from accepting completely that you are an ESI?

    I've never seen this subtype theory though. Pretty interesting.

    I guess I would say I relate better to having polr than polr but I am still unsure. I thought I might be INFj because of my desire to understand people and my interest in Psychology and I seem to be able to relate equally well to the descriptions of an ISFj and INFj. Also, I don't seem to have too much problem in school with theories, history, or grammar. I guess I just don't really concern myself with them unless they have some personal meaning to me or some practicality. Right now I have to read Plato's The Republic. I find it boring yet at the same time interesting. I like discovering the hidden meanings of what he says but I just don't like how long how long it takes and the kind of logic he uses. Maybe that is a Sensing thing? wanting the instant gratification of knowing the hidden meaning? I don't know. Maybe this will help: I think I have figured out how I typically read what people are feeling. I think I usually look at their facial expressions or how they are acting differently than usual.

    I'd go with EII (INFj) as opposed to ESI (ISFj).
