Default Forum ISTj survey and appreciation thread

Hi ISTJs. I’m about to turn 21 this year and as a result, I’ve been really introspective. This is one of the reasons why I’ve revisited socionics. Anyway, I’m interested in my fellow ISTJs, so can you please answer the following things about yourself:

    About yourself
    - Occupation:
    - Pastimes:
    - Goal in life:
    - Best subjects at school:
    - Worst subjects at school:
    - Clique at school:

    What makes you feel…
    - Vulnerable:
    - Irritated:
    - Content/Happy:
    - Depressed:

    How others perceive you
What compliments do you often receive?
What criticisms do you often receive?
What problems/obstacles do you often experience when you meet people?

    How you perceive yourself
    - What are your best traits:
    - Worst are your worst traits:
    - Are you happy being an ISTJ or would you rather be another type?

    Relations with others
    - What quality do you need the most in a partner?
    - Type of the person you’re the closest to:
    - Types you enjoy spending time with:
    - What characterstics about yourself do you consciously hold back/manage?

    Other comments:

    * If you have any more ideas for questions, add them in =)

You know, I really get that feeling with INTJs. Sometimes I feel like I represent a teacher to you guys. Not in an intellectually superior way or anything like that but I think we conjure up that sort of interaction that you had in high school. As a consequence, we feel more like followers who don't have a mind for themselves and conversely, you feel more alienated when around us. However, in a social situation I find both types to be socially inept so there's some underlying bond there.

That's a lot of questions. But anything for a fellow LSI.

    About yourself
    - Occupation: medical student
    - Pastimes: many sports (especially soccer), any kind of game (esp. roleplaying, poker, computer), traveling.
    - Goal in life: be happy and discover something cool
    - Best subjects at school: any scientific, any in which complexity far outweights bulkiness
    - Worst subjects at school: opposite of the above, with special mention to dead languages and history.
    - Clique at school: Highscool? The few people I roleplayed with.

    What makes you feel…
    - Vulnerable: not sure
    - Irritated: not being good at something.
    - Content/Happy: Fe, being good at something.
    - Depressed: not sure

    How others perceive you
What compliments do you often receive? lots, the ones I feel like sharing now are the "encouraging" compliments in social situations.
What criticisms do you often receive? too strict, too shy, physically uncohordinated.
What problems/obstacles do you often experience when you meet people? I cannot small talk.

    How you perceive yourself
    - What are your best traits: no way
    - Worst are your worst traits: too socially introvert
    - Are you happy being an ISTJ or would you rather be another type? I am totally happy.

    Relations with others
    - What quality do you need the most in a partner? Fe
    - Type of the person you’re the closest to: not sure
    - Types you enjoy spending time with: not sure
    - What characterstics about yourself do you consciously hold back/manage? intolerance and impatience.

When I do not have to interact with them like cavemen, LSIs can be great.

    <3

    About yourself
    - Occupation: Health Sciences
    - Pastimes: Exercising, Interior Decorating, Listening to music, Cooking, Shopping
    - Goal in life: To continually improve.
    - Best subjects at school: Biology, Health
    - Worst subjects at school: Art, Music, Maths
    - Clique at school: Somewhere in the middle

    What makes you feel…
    - Vulnerable: Not having a general/specific idea of what’s expected of me. I can’t relax if I’m not sitting in my allocated seat at the cinemas (humm that probably sounds weird to outsiders).
    - Irritated: Manipulative people. Those who lie to me when I specifically request the truth. Passive-aggressive people. When I don’t have anything to focus on. When people take my reliability/need to complete a job for granted or manipulate it to their advantage.
    - Content/Happy: When I’m exercising, watching character driven movies (so I can analyse and ‘feel’ the people…if that makes sense) and organising things and making them more appealing.
    - Depressed: I can see my perfection being a double edged sword. Maybe not depressed but what’s a serious struggle for me is feeling like I can’t amend a situation for fear of hurting another person.

    How others perceive you
    - What compliments do you often receive? That I’m nice and polite (this is obviously going off first impressions…haha).
    - What criticisms do you often receive? That I’m too quiet and although I haven’t heard it directly, I’m pretty sure people think I’m boring.
    - What problems/obstacles do you often experience when you meet people? People think I'm aloof.

    How you perceive yourself
    - What are your best traits: My work ethic, loyalty and honesty. I also think ISTJs are very aware of their faults -- which is why I don’t understand why people think we’re arrogant.
    - Worst are your worst traits: I was told that I’m judgemental. The thought that I force my beliefs on others devastates me. That I’m not as capable in social situations as I should be.
    - Are you happy being an ISTJ or would you rather be another type? I don’t know. Sometimes I only think people value me for the way in which I apply myself to things.

    Relations with others
    - What quality do you need the most in a partner? Emotional stuff.
    - Type of the person you’re the closest to: Betas of course =)
    - Types you enjoy spending time with: Betas and some Alphas.
    - What characteristics about yourself do you consciously hold back/manage? My need for control.

I think it could be his perception that SJs are driving society in terms of schooling and the political side of things? If that's his viewpoint, I don't know. I'm just guessing.

Plus, you just talked about Keirsey types and socionic types at the same time. I'd never do that.

    Hey I'm 21 now

    About yourself
    - Occupation: Law student.
    - Pastimes: Walking, going out.-
    - Goal in life: To be fulfilled, successful and not lonely.
    - Best subjects at school: Maths, Legal Studies, Biology.
    - Worst subjects at school: Woodwork, Sports, metalwork.
    - Clique at school: Nerds.

    What makes you feel…
    - Vulnerable: and
    - Irritated: and
    - Content/Happy: and
    - Depressed: I don't get depressed.

    How others perceive you
What compliments do you often receive? "You could be a comedian.", You look out for others, you're reliable & conscientious".
What criticisms do you often receive? Always thinking that I'm right (Well I usually am right so people should stop bothering me about this).
What problems/obstacles do you often experience when you meet people? Not knowing how the other person feels. I can get the base emotion. I know when people hate me or like me. But I don't know when someone's being "fake". My ENFp sister points out "fake" people, but I would never have had a clue.

    How you perceive yourself
    - What are your best traits: Conscientiousness, drive, intelligence, wit, strong character.
    - Worst are your worst traits: Reservedness.
    - Are you happy being an ISTJ or would you rather be another type? Wouldn't want to be any other type. Although i wouldn't mind being an ENFj for a day .

    Relations with others
    - What quality do you need the most in a partner?
    - Type of the person you’re the closest to: ENFj-
    - Types you enjoy spending time with: ENFj, ISTj, ESFj, ENTp, and others ...
    - What characterstics about yourself do you consciously hold back/manage? Areas of perceived vulnerabilities - I hate coming across as unconfident and insecure.

    Other comments:
When meeting other people for the first time, I want to project myself as: confident, warm, engaging, intelligent, witty, funny and dynamic. These qualities help convey a good impression to your interlocutor.

    * If you have any more ideas for questions, add them in =)[/quote]

    (Myers-Briggs)
    1) 15% is NOT A MAJORITY
    2) Those are MBTI results from tests, poorly backed-up, and in addition to not being taken seriously by Myers-Briggs followers, they correlate even less if trying to understand types from a different system (i.e. socionics).

    1. You're right.
    2. You're right again, from what appears that many people on this forum aren't secure on their type after a simple MB test.

But I still think the chart is awesome.

Even if I think those numbers are totally off, one thing you can notice is that the lowest precentage type on there, ENFJ, is still at 3%. I point that out because I'm tired of hearing people bitch, "Well my type is less then 1% of population" blah blah blah; at least looking at a chart like this, you can see the logistics of any type being less then 1% would be pretty hard to pull off.

About what? I conclude that those people were correct when saying you're a comedian. ISTJs are right all the time =)

So you have an ENFP sister. That relationship must be.....interesting.

Obviously. That was a joke. I was playing up a stereotype.
You do understand that there will be variations between each individual despite having the same 'type', right?

Yeah I remember reading this about ENFJs:
"The individual has great respect and admiration for people with a well-developed and well elaborated system of views and behavior and longs to be more like them or to have constant access to their logic."
....and that's when I realized your type really is my dual.
