Default Ryu - from street fighter

    Personality

Ryu is a classical example of a wandering warrior: a person whose life is entirely devoted to spiritual perfection through the art of the fist. He does not care about winning or losing so much as the moment of the fight and the opportunity for spiritual advancement. In a sense, he is the equivalent to Terry Bogard of Fatal Fury and King of Fighters fame.

    ...

Ryu focuses more on the Hadou principle of Goutetsu-style Ansatsuken, which translates to him being very skilled with his usage of ki - Ryu has the most concentrated Hadouken amongst all "non-lethal" Goutetsu-style Asatsuken users, and only the "lethal style" Goutetsu-style Ansatsuken user, Akuma, can match and/or surpass Ryu's Hadouken in both gauge and concentrate in certain instances. Ryu is the only student of Gouken's style of Goutetsu-style Ansatsuken capable of using the Shakunetsu Hadouken with the greatest of care—ensuring that the surge still burns bright with flames, but won't result in immolation.

Ryu and Ken's duality is comparable with two real-life philosophical approaches to karate, and Japanese martial arts in general. Do and Jutsu, or The path/way, and method/technique. One is more for personal development (see judo)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryu_(Street_Fighter)

Yeah, another fictional character, I know.

But I just want to get a general sense. I related to his personal development aspects, but perhaps that is more an enneagram 1 thing, as opposed to socionics.

    From Wikiquote

Ryu is a video game character created by Capcom, and is the main character of the Street Fighter series.

    * You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance.
o (Note: "Sheng Long" does not refer to a character, but to the "Rising Dragon," i.e. Ryu's and Ken's "Shōryūken" technique.)
    * It is not enough to just train...to find my answer...I must do more...
    * If defeat discourages your fighting spirit, think of what you have gained by learning.
    * Next time we meet, please fight seriously! Only a real challenge will help me to improve!
    * A good fighter learns constantly. During the fight, you taught me how to defeat you!
    * (when using Hadoken) HADOKEN!!!!

    * to Alex: We are different, but I respect your fighting spirit...I want to fight you again!
    * to Dudley: The pride of a fighter...Interesting...I've gained a better understanding now.
    * to Gill: I wonder if you seek the same things as I do in the fight?
    * to Ryu: Mirroring my attacks will not help you beat me! Use skill to obtain victory.
    * to Sean: If you cannot learn from the battle itself, there is nothing I can teach you!
    * to Yang: I hold the Chinese art of Kung-Fu in the high regard! Excellent performance!
    * to Yun: You possess great ability for your age! I have rarely seen such potential. Only once before...

    * Shinkuu Hadoken: Shinkuu Hadoken! It's unstoppable power still amazes me!
    * Shinkuu Hadoken: The ultimate form of wave motion attack...Shinkuu...the power of vacuum energy!
    * Shin Shoryuken: Yes, that is the nature of the attack. If it strikes, you will be crushed!
    * Denjin Hadoken: Concentrated energy...The longer it is built up, the more devestating it becomes!

If you're in this forum to learn something, be careful. Lots of misplaced toxicity.

Pfff, MK is for little pussies who like to button mash and cheese with their character's one basic special move (the spear, the freeze ball, etc). Tekken has REAL combos for people who actually like to play a PvP fighter that requires skill and concentration.

Yoshimitsu FTW. Although Phoenix and Law are good too.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

yeah Law was pretty cool. I liked the flow of his different styles, was fun to learn to fight with him. Bryan Fury was my other main character... nobody could beat me with Ling though. I was untouchable

You can't button mash on anything medium difficulty or greater... enemies are too smart for that you have to use combos too. I agree Tekken has more advanced combos but if you're a REAL MAN (tm) you can just punch through all the sissy fancy fighting!!!

I did like figuring out the best way to open the all the sarcophagus's in the crypt on my friends version of that one MK on the Xbox. I printed out the whole list from a faq on the internets and went through it figuring out exactly what and in what order to open them all so that he could get everything in one go.

Who's more of a man: Hulk Hogan, or Bruce Lee? Eh? EH?! Yeah, that's what I thought.

So not true, by the way. I can beat any level of any of like the first 4 Mortal Kombats by button mashing. Quasi-precise mashing, but mashing nonetheless.

Video games are for pussies - for real fun, you should go knuckle-fighting with a hoard of tramps in a dark alley - it really gets the adrenaline going, and improves community spirit.

sure, and then why not make a video game about it?

This guy is usually called in the MMA scene the real life copy of Ryu. I am not sure if he is ESI-Se or LSI-Se. Regardless of Ryu's type, I think it would be cool if Ken had either a kindred, business, or dual relation to him.

I'd also like to recommend the King of Fighters series of fighting games, in which I usually play Iori because I practically know all his moves. It's not as easy as MK, and not as hard as Tekken (imo).

Yay for 2-year-old thread bumps hehe.

Umm I still like Ken better than Ryu. Ken was like....more visceral and hotter and more street-smart. Spirituality is for pussies. =p

Well, he can be dragon-punched pretty easily when going up for his izuna drop/throw, but most real opponents aren't able to react in time anyway. And if they do, there are other ways with dealing with them.
