I think I've always looked for my dual, even long before I knew what socionics was. I think people naturally look for others they are compatible with.

    Here's my experience w/ 4 ISTPs...
    http://the16types.info/forums/viewto...413&highlight=

I used to VI them in online dating. And then to be sure, I'd I'd give them a quiz or ask them questions, and then have them read the description to see if it sounded right. Everyone is always like "they must think you're psycho!" but no guy ever complained about taking the quiz. Except for an INTP actually. He complained a lot.

I tried out many different types (25 of them in the last 2 years) and I'm convinced ISTP is the best one. I even remember my first crush in kindergarden, looking back, was clearly ISTP. I made a story about all the guys I went out w/ and their types. It's not edited or anything, but it's very long! lol. If you want to read it and I'll email it to you. I included what their types were.

Well, I think once I get to know/spot the traits a typical ENFP person displays, i'll start looking for a dual

Yeah yeah, I had a time when I wanted sooo badly to be with my Dual. I believed in Socionics too much and I let it ruin my relationship when I actually *did* start dating an ESTp. I was sooo freaking excited and idealistic. I let my emotions boil over and I had no clue what I was actually getting myself into. We weren't compatible, lifestyle was. In some ways, Duality was Duality in the fact that we were very comfortable with eachother, things had this flow to it and it was never awkward in conversation, I could say what I wanted.

But there was a lot wrong with it too.. we just did not match in many ways. He was not much of a partier, not random enough for me, and I was way too clingy and emotional. I bolstered him up in my mind like wow, he is my Dual, I can never lose him! So I started getting anxious and blahblah.. it messed it all up, but I don't regret it. I experienced it and now I know that Socionics isn't everything in relationships, definitely not.

There are good Duals and bad ones, I really believe that. I just don't see myself with an ESTp now anyway though, I couldn't handle the Fi PoLR at ALL. ISTjs/INTjs are much better for me.

there are only 16 types. 16 and 7 billion people. There isn't a completely even distribution of types, but the distribution is such that you can find many representatives of every single type if you take a stroll to the downtown area of your city. It's important to realize that the mental blocks and 'no-no's you've arranged in your head that seperate you from other people are different than type. and if you have close friends/relatives more than likely you've had a dual relation. I don't think it's something that anyone would have to hunt.

If you were a victim, they would probably hunt you down. Or at least an aggressor would make you turn yourself in.

Anyway, I have been looking for ESFjs for a while, and I suppose I have not found any that were.... people I could not pass up. Perhaps I will start looking for ENFjs. INFjs I see now and then, and they are usually individuals of a high caliber.
Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.
If you're in this forum to learn something, be careful. Lots of misplaced toxicity.

In Soviet Russia, your dual hunts you!

Anyway, it really isn't that hard to find a dual. What is hard is to capture them and put them in a cage. You know how loud a person can scream sometimes? The neighbors always call asking if there are problems at my house...

Seriously though, I have never actually gone dual hunting. To be honest, ESFp's really aren't that hard to find, since in social situations they usually stand out in the first place. Duals aren't really some rare item that need to be hunted down. As heath said, if you try even marginally hard enough you can find someone who is your dual. I have had ESFp friends in the past, I see them in classes, at clubs, parties, etc. The challenge is not in the hunt, but in the establishment with a dual, which often requires more than just meeting a dual and then letting the mystical forces of Socionics bring you and your dual magically together.

It might be hard to recognize that such is the case, though.

Agreed, typing isn't something that can be done on someone one just accidentally steps on foot while gliding down a sidewalk. But chances are, if you have a large enough family, a diverse circle of friends, or just become familiar various groups of people, eventually you will probably encounter and recognize your dual. The person might not be your soul mate, they may not be relationship worthy, you might not be sexually attracted to them, you might even meet in conflicting circumstances, but chances are you will probably meet and identify at least one. Sometimes some people aren't so obviously one type though and typing can often be a difficult task in itself. There are plenty of complications that can arise in a more elaborate game of "dual hunting", but duals themselves aren't really rare gems.

I apologize that I edited my post while you were replying to it.

    This topic is creeeeppyyyyy....
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,

    No you aren't.

My story looks pretty much the same as yours.

I've once searched pretty hard to find a dual. Which succeeded once in a while, but it sometimes seems like the search is more exciting then the finding.

I guess reading this topic, that more people want to search their dual but still haven't managed the right way of typing them easely.

And then there are some people who don't search, I guess they wait and hope their dual searches them? Or they just aren't that interested in relationships.
