Why is Harry Potter so popular? The books aren't really that interesting to me... they lack inner depth or something. Also sometimes I feel the author gets too preachy And Is Basically Annoying.

Rowling figured out that "inner depth" is less entertaining than fast-paced character-driver plot, so her subtextual elements are relegated to the back. A good call, in my opinion.

    *sobs*

You just have to enjoy it for what it is, entertainment. You also have to remember it started out as a kids book, and the readers and characters are getting older and the books more in depth. And I still don't understand why we have to compare her to C.S. Lewis...they are not even on the same scale in my mind.

It's a good adventure, over-coming odds kind of story. And it has details to focus on and mystery.

Lewis is writing another sequel book called "The Chronicles of Narnia: Lol I'm Dead" due out next year.
