Hmmm I think ISTp > ISTj, but maybe INTp? Have you considered that? You say emotion makes you uncomfortable, so maybe PoLR, and you sound to be -ish. Ip temperment too. I'd say either ISTp or INTp. I don't personally know any ISTps without hobbies but I'm sure it's possible. Oh wait, I know two female ISTps who don't seem to have any particular hobby.

    Yes, definitely IxTp.

Photos are if you want to get VIed (Visual Identification) but I'm sceptical about them, since mine ended up painting a very wrong portrait of me, and it took over 25 pages to find my type. Choice is yours.

    i've got some questions.

are you a thrill seeker. like driving fast etc?
do you like to read theory's, evolution theory etc?
    are you good at mechanics?
is your mind busy with the future, or are you always in the present here and now?
are you very aware or suspicious of other people?

until now I would say you're ISTP, but I would like to see the questions answered

The way to tell is to ask whether you're more hands-on. Do you prefer fixing the problem, or thinking about how you'd fix the problem?

I would agree with those that say ILI or SLI. SLI is probably more likely, but who really knows.

Interesting phenomenon. Only two types are consistent with what you have said about yourself, Sfida -- ISTp and INTp -- and everyone agrees on that. I wonder if that has ever happened before on this forum. Maybe we can learn something from it. You have managed to describe yourself in a way that has resulted in a clear consensus and only two types to consider. I also think that ISTp is more likely, but to be sure you should compare those two types critically. You could read some more type descriptions of ISTp (SLI) and INTp (ILI) for a start.

If you relate to this description, you are unquestionably ISTp.

The ISTp description in Winterpark's is a very good descriptions on how ISTps behave. Here is a detail from it that description that is clearly visable in the ISTps I have observed, and it is also a very clear difference between ISTps and INTps. INTps are not like this at all:

They [ISTps] try to talk a lot with facial expressions; such as the way they furrow their brow or grimace, believing in non-verbal communication as opposed to words.

Because the way he described himself immediately made people think of two traits associated with those types, the IP temperament and the Fe PoLR.

Yes, but usually some people in these discussions tend to question such "simple" descriptions, saying for example that being a rational or an irrational type has very little to with your behaviour, or that temperaments are bullshit. There has been is no talk about functions here, before you mentioned the Fe PolR, and that is interesting, since that is not the normal pattern.

Well, perhaps it's a coincidence due to the specific people involved in the discussion. The information that Sfida provided points immediately to Te IP and ISTp in particular, now, if more information were provided, perhaps other people would start to spot other possibilities, rightly or wrongly.

Read my first post again. There has been talk of functions. And even if people didn't specifically mention them, I bet they saw exactly what I saw.

Yes, I forgot that one, and should have checked the whole thread before I posted. But I still think it is interesting that Sfida's description was phrased in a way that enabled all of us to immediately spot the correct type(s). Is that because irrelevant things are left out and only relevant things are put in there? Why do people get side-tracked when it comes to other people's self-descriptions but not in this one?

I can't speak for "people". In my case, sometimes what the person is saying and how the person is saying it seems to flatly contradict, functionally, the self-description itself.

No. But just to avoid any possible misunderstandings, however unlikely, I will say what you were thinking anyway: Sfida cannot be an ISTj.

Yes, ISTP sounds most accurate, especially the description that was linked by Winterpark.

I've been seeing things about subtypes in people's signatures -- can anyone explain what those are all about, or link me to something explaining them?

Also, what does "PoLR" stand for?

I think the subtypes are just indications of whether you rely more on your creative or base than normal. And PoLR is your Role, or 3rd function, I think it stands for Place of Least Resistance.

Wrong! PoLR is your 4th function and it's not your Role. See this.

In the case of the ISTp :

    (introverted sensing)- 1st, leading function
(extraverted logic) - 2nd, creative function
(introverted intuition) - 3rd, role function
(extraverted ethics) - 4th, PoLR (place of least resistance) function (Vulnerable function)

A trip to the Arctic Ocean to get some fresh air and a relaxing drink with some PoLaR ice in it will probably be more than sufficient in this case.
