Is it true that people with high IQ are harder to type than others? I've heard this come up in a few type-related discussions, namely the idea that high IQ can give the illusion of Ti.

Dangerous question.
I'd say that each function is a different kind of "intelligence."
As for IQ...I refuse to comment
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...
Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
Whilst our laughter echoed,
Under cerulean skies...
I was easy to type as INTp, so I'd say no.

indeed. no problems regarding iq.
honestly, that is a good question.
IQ involves logical thinking and some other things, such as spatial intelligence. IMO, if IQ has an effect on how much of a type someone is (if that is what you mean), I don't think it would be predictable in each type.
I waiting to see input from other people.
I think that Ethical types with high IQs are definitely more likely to be mis-typed as logical types.

I have an ESFp friend, currently studying Mathematics at University... he is definitely one smart guy, and was put into the 'gifted' set at school. So I don't know, this person would kind of lay opposed to that theory.Originally Posted by misutii

which do you think is more likely to occur on this forum...Originally Posted by KSpin

Interestingly, the two who claimed no problem identifying their type are ILIs, which tends to be the stereotype a lot of people have for a very bright person (either that or LII). From my experience, most of the people I know with any sort of intellectual bent, no matter what their type was, had a tendency to act ILI-ish or LII-ish at times - even a couple of ENFps I know.
I've known a lot of Ethical types, mostly introverted, myself included, who score in genius range and have mis-typed as Logical on several occasions. It makes me wonder.
And I have no more of a problem fathoming an Ethical pursuing mathematics than I do a Logical pursuing theatre. It happens.
yup I started off here as INTj... then lost the T... then finally lost the N and j to become ISFp. For what it's worth I get around a 147 on IQ tests.
I used to get pegged as an INTj or INTp last year when I was trying to act hard and failing miserably, but now that I'm letting myself be more myself, I get INFj. I think I put on a Logical facade because my IQ gives me the capacity to do that in order to be a foil to my mother and brother, who are both crazy, crazy ESFp 7s.
According to the Stanford-Binet or the Cattell scale? You never know for sure these days, at least not in Sweden, since they now have changed from Cattell to Stanford-Binet. A result of 147 is of course much more likely on the Cattell scale.Originally Posted by Bionicgoat

nah real tests... not the internet kind.Originally Posted by Jarno

the internet kind of tests are a little lower but I've never taken one of those where I wasn't either way stoned out or wired up on amphetamines so you gotta take that into consideration. The real-life tests I've always been straight for.

I don't know about harder to type, but there are stereotypes. People will assume they are N and T if they are smart, even if they aren't N and/or T. And people will sometimes assume others who are smart are N and/or T. That's just silly. Type is about how you process information, not about how well you process it.

No it wasn't, you're just stupid.

I think smart ethical types are easy to type as being ethical even if they are very smart. Usually though they will have the self-perception of being logical.

But true in the cases of enough Ethicals to note. Of course, then a situation comes up where we have to be really, truly harsh and objective towards another person and we just can't. Unless they're being really, well, unethical.
