I've just recently read some excerpts from his diary.
He wanted attention very badly, and liked being in the center of attention: E.
He preferred short, simple sentences that said exactly what was the main point and nothing more, and he revelled in tricking people in an elegant fashion: Sp (According to Keirsey, and I see no reason not to accept that as true, at least for extraverts).
He didn't want to take it too far, though, and he always had a concern for the people involved: F.

    I'd say ESFp.

I got really bored while reading his books, but we took a field trip to his house when I was in 8th grade. It was all elegant and full of color, it had a whole lot of decoration, and it was pretty cramped. I also remember that it had a game room or something of the sorts.

I'm going to guess ENFp, although I'm not sure.

Mark Twain quote: "Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society."

In today's paper - in the style section. Next time my husband complains about my clothes shopping, I'll tell him Mark Twain said I have to.

    ESFj?

The humor sounds rightly critical/sarcastic yet fit for the times.

He also VI-s like my boss...lol.

Do you associate with him and his writing? See any thing that you can relate to on any level?

I like Mark Twain's writing, but so do many people of many types. It isn't a good idea to type someone by whether someone likes their writing or "can associate" with them. We can all "associate with" anyone whose writing we like, whom we find attractive or smart or talented, anything.

I was going to say, have you read autobiography of him?

Everyone can be sarcastic. It's just that ESEs tend not to be.

Whatever Twain's type be, he knew how to appreciate cats.

Yeah but years ago in college. I took a trip to his hometown, Hannibal Missouri, a couple of years ago. It was cool but it was during bad flooding and half the town was underwater, so we couldn't see a lot of things.

My jaw just dropped to the ground; they are the funniest bunch and most likely to explore all sorts of Fe related stuff and play on words especially, which I find Mark Twain doing a lot of.

I think of plays on words as being Ne, making connections in language and playing with it. And no type is "the funniest bunch".

Funniest means only funniest. there can't be more than one of the tallest, oldest, funniest, or anything else.

Take it to mean whatever specific thing you like it to mean but that's not what I meant to say.

    Funny doesn't imply sarcastic.

Mariella has a point about Ne being related to such humor, although Ni is as well - except Ni plays with meaning, context and ambiguous references rather than words' fun with puns - and then no element is clearly responsible for humor as such or type of humor.

Well we can agree that he was an Extraverted Ethical type, that's a good start.

    <--this one is...lol.

In other news, My hometown of Jamestown, Tennessee has a bunch of stuff dedicated to Mark Twain... a park, a building, a hotel...etc. While in Tennessee history class, I asked my teacher why this town had the Mark Twain theme since I could never figure out any connection he may have had. His answer was pretty funny, it's the kind of thing that small towns will do to get themselves on the map...lol.

As he put it, Mark Twain's parents were living here prior to moving to Missouri, they moved away about 6 or 7 months before he was born. So, seriously, my town celebrates the fact that Mark Twain himself was conceived there. lol His only connection to the place is that his parents lived here while his mother was pregnant. *Random post
