Default Garfield

Last night I was watching some Garfield holiday DVDs and, of course, typing all the main characters. Here's what I thought was plausible. Which do you think are accurate, and which do you disagree with?

Jon: IEE
Garfield: LIE (or ILI)
Odie: SEI
Liz: SLI
Jon's Mom: ESE
Jon's Dad: LSI
Doc Boy: LSI
Jon's Grandma: SEE
Jon's Grandpa: ILI

I haven't seen much of the cartoons, but in the comic strips Garfield seems SLI to me. In my opinion, Garfield's love of food and sleep above all else strongly points toward Si.

IEE makes sense for Jon. Odie seems fairly extraverted to me -- ESE? Although that would make him Garfield's Supervisor, which doesn't seem like it makes sense. If Garfield is ILI like you suggested, that would make them conflictors, which makes a bit more sense.

I don't know the rest well enough to comment on their types.

Jon: A closet case homosexual who is bad with woman, conflicted over his own homosexuality. He doesn't want to be gay, but he can't be straight either. He wants to be straight but he's so bad with women, he's too much of a dork (or Nice Guy TM) so his relationships never work out.

Lenny (that man with the black mustache that is Jon's friend): A very attractive gay man, Lenny tries to gently soothe Jon out of the closet. Lenny is already in a relationship with another man, but Jon gives such good 'I don't want to be gay' hate sex skull fucks that he sticks around. They are frequently seen in the strips watching tv together. Of course, it's gay porn. Sometimes Lenny has conflicted feelings for Jon, but he always decides that they're better as friends. And well, Lenny couldn't have a relationship with Jon anyway as he won't come out of the damn closet.

Garfield: A gay man's best friend is his cat, naturally. See Odie's bio as it is intertwined with Garfield's.

Odie: The happy-go-lucky straight dog that Garfield hates. Garfield is a feminine catty (get it) gay man, the kind of gay man that supports other gay men by participating in AIDS rallies, but other gay men hate him because he's girly. Garfield is secretly in love with his 'Master', Jon. But like many closeted gay men, Jon likes Odie (and other straight men) much better. Garfield HATES Odie for this, resents him, and is the reason why he kicks his ass in the strips. Jon is actually fond of Garfield but the love is conditional. He just wants Garfield to be more of a real man instead of the obese, effeminate stereotypical AIDS activist that he is.

Liz: She's really a tranny. Jim Davis might reveal this information to the public but I'm telling you all now personally. This is also continuity. Garfield is a feminine gay man in love with Jon, Liz is an even more feminine gay man (a tranny) that is in love with Jon.

My POINT OF DOING THIS is the wisdom that you can make anything MEAN anything you want to, and STILL have it make sense. Because meaning is derived from within. And so socionics is really a lesson in subjective insanity. Interesting. But 'Jon' is pretty much what you want him to be. I want him to be a closeted homosexual, and I just proved it with REAL objective happenings in the comic strip.

So Garfield's not an ENTj. Then INTp. I don't think he's an ISTp; his sense of humor doesn't fit. And he's a glutton. ISTps like quality more than quantity when it comes to food. ESE makes sense for Odie, but Odie is a pushover. I don't think ESEs would let an ILI kick them off the table.

According to Victor Gulenko

ISTps have a characteristic one sided smile which when combined with their scepticism can sometimes be interpreted as self-satisfaction

Case Closed
